Time to get back in race mode again (at last!) - Who do you think will take the Pole in Long Beach?
I, of course, vote for Gil ... |

pole?
Pole is difficult to pick in the Champ Cars...
OK, a stab in the dark, Kenny Brack But for the race, there's only one Paul. |

Oh Bella,
If you could see me now The one who said Paul would be the one The one who said Mikey would turn out right If you could hear me now, singing softly through the lonely night.. (sorry, shouldn't listen to banjo music and join the forum at the same time). |

Da Matta for the pole, Paul for the win, and another bagful of points for Wescan! (Tora will gain the most places).
I hope |

Tony Kanaan holds onto the pole and also wins on Sunday, Without a Mercedes under the engine cover to slow him down, Kanaan will be tough to beat, which is embarassing for Zanardi..

Kanaan looks impressive so far, and so do the Players guys! OK, I'll go with SevenGrain and predict Kanaan to take pole, but it really is a stab in the dark! That's why it's so exciting!

I'll be going for Tags, I really want to see a Players car in victory lane again. Pat Carpentier always ends up in a tire barrier somewhere, so I think Alex is their best hope.

jay, i'm with you there.
what would tags' reaction be, though? nuclear meltdown? a brambilla moment? i can't wait to find out... he was fastest in morning practice of some kind, so that's a start.. and he's won here before. (i'm boycotting christian till he refuses to race that drag-queen mobile. besides, black came out better on my laserjet printer...) |

Could be an interesting grid this.
First 14 (slow group) have finished and Jourdain Jr was fastest. The interesting part is that it is now raining meaning that the "fast group" will very likely go slower. Jourdain Fittipaldi Tagliani Herta Carpentier Gugelmin Zanardi Wilson Moreno Nakano Krumm Fernandez Garcia Junqueira Looks very likely that the top 12 will remain the same. Garcia was 7 secs off the pace, Junqueira was 30 seconds down on Jourdain following problems. Last edited by wodonnell; 7 Apr 2001 at 21:27. |

The rain has stopped and the umbrellas are coming down...
Kenny Brack (currently best in group 2) is now 8.4 sec behind Jourdain, on a drying track and with 21 min. to go... |

D'oh!
Front straight almost dry. Times are beginning to come down now but only 11 mins to go. A red flag would be useful. A strategic "accident" would give the track more time to dry out Scott Dixon is first to break into the first groups times proper (most of them went faster than Junqueira on their first runs). |

With seconds to go Jourdain got bumped down to 7th.
What a shame. Helio took the pole. Then: Brack Kanaan Da Matta De Ferran Franchitti Jourdain |
