Britcar-this weekend

Silverstone's 1st round kicks off at 14.10 for 2 hours of action-does anybody know how many entries there may be? By the way the Miglia's start the day at 12.15! 6 races only as per Sunday though 2 of them are BRDC single seaters.

Why do the results of the EERC race at Silverstone today not show on the MST web site ?, I thought all forms of national motorsport had to run an MST transponder ?.

Due to low volume on the PA system at Silverstone, I missed the reason the Finnemore/Beighton Mantis dropped back - can anybody supply the answer. I also thought the Rouse Merc was supposed to have a stop/go penaly but saw no evidence of it being served.

The results were still provisional when I left the circuit at 5=30 yesterday.

Alfa, what was the Stop/Go for?

An enjoyable race, a diversity of cars, the Ex DTM Merc was in a class of it's own, finishing 2 laps ahead of the rest of the field

the stop go was for speeding but the paperwork was on the wrong coloured paper and wasn't served - you what!!!!!!!

the marcos had a broken gear stick and limped for nearly a lap before that was replaced...

excellent wins for Andy and Julian Rouse , Phil Bennett and John George and Smith and Stephens and drivers of the day for Gannon and Gannon

Thanks for the info Les - it was looking like a close finish until the Marcos' problem.
How on earth can the colour of paper make any difference to whether a penalty is applied or not ?

I believe MST only put the results up online for organisers that pay them enough.

well over the commentary they said that james (Tucker) had asked for the stop/go to be applied and some 20 minutes later they said they couldn't as it was requested on the wrong colour paper!

If the speeding report is not on an official form, ie MSA report pad or other recognised for the meeting, then the Clark of the Course can reject it. It also depends on who submits the report and if that person is the Judge of Fact on the speed gun.

I think that there's a small possibility that you missed the sarcasm in the comment.....

It's likely that Jason is near the truth, there is a correct process for things like this that depends on the regs for the race and/or the blue book. If not followed the competitor would be able to appeal the penalty.

For those that arn't aware the top 5 was: Rouse/Rouse, Cowgill/Lockie, Finnemore/Beighton, Kempton/Allen & Donaldson/Donaldson. Rouse's speed in the pitlane was (if I remember correctly-so could be wrong!)was about 90mph! No doubt someone will have the correct speed! the Milia's were great: Sollis, Baldwin, Rogers, Chandler & Wager. The Mini 7s were even better with: Deviny, Sims, Hack, Hunter(Mad Max!) & Banwell. Didn't watch anything else due to getting the gossip after those races. Went to North Weald sprint today to do some words/photography and eneded up laying cement dust round half the track to help with the marshals!

must admit I was stumped there as well...

so next round is Brands Hatch - last year it rained and the poor old Fiesta drivers spent the whole race looking in their mirrors. I sometimes think that such a mixture of cars need a longer circuit.

Possibly Les, but Brands should give the Fiesta's a bit more of a chance-well they shouldn't be lapped as much I wouldn't have thought as it's not like a power circuit like Silverstone is with the long straights. Have some nice shots from Silverstone so will be looking for the drivers on the Saturday morn'. Les, would you know if the Pembrey round is for racing on the Sunday only as I cant get there untill Sat' evening.

I won't be at Brands as it clashes with Mondello BTCC (bummer) so I reckon my boys are on for a win. Take loads of piccies for me please...

Going back to the fiestas - poor old boys were being overtaken at every corner on every lap apart from the first 2 or 3. That can't make it the best of races for them surely. It's not as if it was Silverstone where they can at least have a breather down the straight.

Brands was wet last year, that's an understatement!!

Saturday was a good race, and I'm looking forward to the Brands meeting, which will be the day after 2 long days at Snetterton for the F3/GT meeting.

Some of my photos from Silverstone:
