Fred Sausset has been testing his adapted Morgan at Le Mans and will continue at Barcelona.

The team is also running the ELMS Silverstone round.

Nice to see a garage 56 entry get some race running in before Le Mans.

Do we know much about the additional equipment, specifically the compromises? Is it heavy? Has this been compensated for elsewhere? Will there have to be equipment changes at pit stops that add time?

I'm interested in the safety aspects in case of 'recovery' as well (when he pulls off of the track for instance).

There was a similar question posed on one of the Facebook groups. Suggestion was that if there's an issue, it's almost the same as recovering an able-bodied driver.

The problem is possibly more significant if say there's a break down as you say, whereby he cannot remove himself ASAP from the car over the barrier (say on the Mulsanne between marshall posts or in the middle of the Porsche curves), do they have to immediately yellow flag in order to remove him, do they literally lift the car to safety with him in-situ etc.

Maybe an ejection-seat might help!

Hadn't really thought of it before, but it's gonna be extremely unfortunate if the Pescarolo under him catches fire and there's no safety marshalls in the immediate surroundings... there's literally nothing for him to do in such instance

I suspect there is no need for a difference in when a yellow is thrown or the procedure here. If a car stops there is a yellow, irrespective of how quick the driver can get out.

He can't get out as quick, but the (small) increase in risk there is worth the additional freedoms that are presented to him in being able to race.

Yeah that's a very good point - it's one thing not being accessed if there's a crash - if you're hurt you're hurt. If there's a fire... yikes!

DSC : The ACO has very strict safety rules. How are you planning to handle possible emergency situations requiring a fast extraction from the car?
FS : In case of emergency, I just need to push a switch that then releases high-pressured gas from a small tank into a system that lifts my seat. From that point on, I can get out safely. When we tested this system, I was able to leave the car and be at a distance of 1.5 meters in 12 seconds. That is acceptable for ACO.

Driver changes take a long time, I wonder if they've got down to their 2-2.5 minutes aim in that article?

It's a shame this wasn't ready when it was hoped.

Looks solid. Already way more interested in this than what we have for June this year.

Really crossing my fingers to see WR back at Le Mans!
It's been far too long now.

I remember Sam Collins reading the first bit of news about this project, live on air in the pitlane at Le Mans... from the Twitter app on my phone.

I hope it leads for something more later on. After all, they were already planning to bring nonhybrid LMP1 (+LMP2) on the grid for the 2014 season, but that never materialized and we never heard of it again.

This G56 is something however they did mention years ago, so it's good to have at least something materializing. Well, at least we hope it materializes. After the GreenGT fiasco we have to remain a bit skeptical of these things.
