With the V8SC becoming the iV8SC, and hence having to drop any national links, is the ATCC title being contested this year? If so, by whom?

How cool would it be if the Production car series got back the ATCC title, hence dropping the manufacturers championship??? ... but cant see it happening...

In 2003 Ross Palmer applied to CAMS for the Performance Car Championship to be run for the ATCC, didn't V8Supercars complain and CAMS kept it applied there?

Even if the ATCC title reverts to something else, the "IV8C" will still keep trying to trade off the ATCC history.....amongst other things their "heritage" round will be made redundant on the spot

The production cars are now the only things that even remotely resemble a Touring car. In 2003, I can see V8SC blocking the Palmer application, now they are "international" that situ might change...

I only saw this scenario mentioned in Bill Woods book "Legends of Speed" ..... there wasn't much correct in that book, what makes us think that information is correct?

I don't think the term "Australian Touring Car Championship" can be owned, given that there was nothing stopping the AASA awarding their own "Australian Touring Car Championship" in 2008 for one of their series

I thought Bob Jane believed he did and that was why he kept 'trying' to take CAMS and V8SCA to court all the time.

Shouldn't be any difference - the V8s have been an FIA International Series since 03 or 04 and Bathurst has been run on an FIA International licence for years.

Not such a silly question

There was a Top 10 at Bathurst in 1988, didn't mean it counted for the grid positions though (the FIA let the Top 10 count in 1987, but not in 1988)

Shootouts weren't part of the 1987 WTCC or 1988 A-PTCC supplementary regs in those years... in V8Supercars they are though, so despite the new FIA status, the shooutouts still count for grid spots

Top Tens were always Channel 7's favourite baby. It's not a coincidence they all but disappeared during Channel 10, then came back to every race meeting when 7 resumed the rights.

So if 7 wants them, they'll be there.

They were there at every race meeting during the 10 era too - at least for a season or two anyway.

Are you sure Ch 7 dictates how the race meeting will be run, that seems a little odd to me
