A quick challenge

Here's the scenario.

Old track, slowly going into decline. Never particularly famous or anything, but has been taken over by an ambitious circuit owner in Madeupcountry.

Local opposition ask you to divert the existing track away from the village of Coultare, and re-route the track to avoid a historic rail embankment.

The current track is 3.06 miles, with 13 corners, and runs anti-clockwise.

Key:
dashed line - railway embankment
black line - circuit
grey lines - other roads (not to be used)
grey shading - town (including adequate 'noise' distance)

Off you go then

so we need to divert the traffic...and turn the track away from the railway line. Right I'll do it now.

Here's a quick shot at it. National/club circuit shortcut in lighter red.

Here's mine. I guess that it would be only slightly longer than before, when the full infield option is used.

A very quick dabble at this one produces this thought.

The circuit remains Anti Clockwise

{edit...Pirenzo's circuit is visable to me now...probably my 'puter playing up}

I don't know. I think I made a good looking track, but I don't think I kept with the original concept of 'updating the original'. They've both got very different characteristics...

Hey, looks pretty sweet anyhow

OK, it is a brand new circuit really, but nothing unrealistic if you're an ambitious new circuit owner

Here's my go! Again, it's basically a completly new circuit, just in the same vein as the old.

P... exactly. It happens a lot I think. Tracks losing their soul.

EDIT: By the way, I just realised your was anti-clockwise. That small detail must've slipped my mind, and I presumed yours was clockwise. Mine was made with the intention of being clockwise, but anit-clockwise isn't that bad either. But actually, yea, mines clockwise

Yannick should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Last night, I remembered that I had edited this a long time ago, but not yet posted, so I browsed through the archive of the board to find the thread again, which wasn't too easy, but now, here it is: My version of Coultare. I tried to stay true to the character of the original track, only slightly modyfing it in places, and if race organizers like it fast, they can always choose the yellow edit instead of the blue one with the sweepers. I introduced the final chicane to get cars closer together at the end of the main straight.
