Because that can only mean one thing - truck racing and fireworks at Donington I've never seen truck racing before and so I think this one sounds like it could be fun. Who's interested?

Damn right! Me an' Maisie will be there.

I can't wait to see the trucks tearing down the Craners.. I've only ever seen them on telly (tearing down Paddock Hill!) but never in the flesh. Should be a blast

Truck racing is great. Seen them at Pembrey when we were on the bill a few years ago. Also, went to Donington to see the truck GP a while ago.
Shame it's on the 5th....it's my birthday!

As I said, I'll be there, but...

...a favour to ask.

Ahem... Do YOU live between Sparky Central and Donington, so that I might abandon my vehicle at your patch and continue my travels thereafter with you?

I will share costs (and driving if required), 'cos I can't see the point of rattling oop north on my own.

Anyone?

Thanks Dan, timing is every...

...thing.

BTW, I thought you were gonna offer me a lift when I saw your post!!!

Sorry everyone if I stopped the thread dead - I thought I only did that at BTCC fanzone!

Righto, my fellow Donnington-bound Tenths-ers...

I have established a suitable means of transportation for the evening of the 5th, so I'll see you there.

Let the festivities commence!

I've been hunting round trying to find a timetable, but haven't had any luck. If anyone does manage to find a timetable, please post it here
As for prices, if I remember correctly, it's £5 for qualifying on Saturday and £10 for the Sunday; £12 if you buy a weekend ticket in advance.

Alternatively, if you don't fancy going to qualifying on the Saturday, you are all cordially invited to visit me and my Maestro on the Vanden Plas Owners Club stand at the NEC classic car show in Birmingham. I will be there on Saturday, but on Sunday I shall have to desert my beloved to go watch the racing.

You Traitor! Deserter! How can you even contemplate leaving Hexie all on his own!!!
I shall have to seriously consider reporting you to the RSPCM
(that's Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Maestros for all the uneducated people out there)
Might just take you up on the offer of a trip to the Classic Car Show on the Saturday

He'll be fine In fact, he'll probably have a great time chatting to the other old VPs without me fussing over him. And then he'll get bad habits from the older cars and stagger home like a 90 year old

Bad habits?

Easy way to remedy that. At the first sign of trouble from your classic car, sidle up to it and whisper the words "Wimbledon Stadium" at it. If they know what's good for them, they start to behave at once. I have saved hundreds in garage bills with this tactic alone, I am certain.

Just don't let Hexie get talking to any of those bad ol' Vauxhall Crestas. You know what they're like... They might teach him how to rust.

You can't teach a car to rust. (Even a Maestro )

It's all in the breeding. Unfortunately, the heritage of the Maestro can be traced to the Allegro and Maxi - what hope have you got?

If your car isn't rusting, there are certain remedies you can try. I find removing the paint and cleansing the wound with saltwater will produce the (un)desired effect.
Nothing beats a good swim in the sea, though.

Does anyone produce a fibreglass Maestro 'shell? I sense a business opportunity!!!

I fear this topic has gone way off track - can we get back to the thing we're discussing. In case anyone forgot, here's a brief rundown of the talking points in this topic: bonfires, Maestro...

Who'll be brave enough to start again...

Maisie, you seem to be developing a worrying tendency to turn Trackside topics into Maestro discussions recently
