European F3 Open 2012

Seems like Euro F3 Open will join British F3 in being the only F3 series admitting the new F312, all other stopping with the F308.

Also, said Silverstone to replace Brands Hatch and Nurburgring and Hungaroring to be added, the former in anticipation of a team or two switching from the faltering German series.

I think any extra rounds will come at the expense of one of the Spanish rounds.

Euro should join up with the British F3 series, that would make a mega strong championship. However i feel GP3 has taken over F3 now... GP3 runs with F1 and runs off GP2 teams plus i think is pretty much the same price as F3 maybe even cheaper?... I mean how can you fight that?

Did you mean F3 Euro Series? In that case I'd totally agree, but the European F3 Open is a cheaper spec series and not at the same level.

i actually think the biggest threat gp3 poses is to gp2 rather than f3...

Yeah sorry Euro Series. European F3 Open though doesn't really bring strong fields, so it's just a season learning in a F3 car really, you want to be racing the best juniors around, which Euro Series and British F3 brings in a way.

@ Bella hmm interesting. You could be right but I think the cars are too big a difference though, GP2 is already a proven Series and is set in stone so i doubt GP3 would take over. I think the lap times are like 10 seconds difference in GP2 and GP3? Which makes F1 10 seconds faster than GP2, GP3 a further 10 from GP2. So when you look at it from that it's a great ladder to F1 especially all being on the same tracks. That's why I think GP3 is or has pretty much taken over F3 because GP3 and F3 do the same lap times pretty much however GP3 gets far better exposure when at the same GP weekends as F1 and GP2.
