Help identify please
Hi

where to? how old? wot forumla? y is it in bits? no engine? no wings? looks like half a car! nice frame work tho wehre did it come from? |

The chassis is mine - just joined the forum, so thanks Mark for posting this for me.
I bought the car about 8 years ago - it was advertised as a FF2000 but the chap didn't know what it was. I planned to use the chassis as a hillclimb car with a bike engine, but have since changed plans. That's why it's in bits. It didn't come with an engine or 'box when I bought it. The nose cone is definately Modus, but not sure about the side pods. The engine mounts are consistent with Formula Ford as is the gearbox mounts. The drive shafts are VW and the rear uprights take VW drive flanges. The rear hubs were VW but have been re-drilled to accommodate studs at 3 3/4" PCD. The front hubs are modified Herald and the whole thing looks to date from the early 70's. There are no identity numbers of any kind, so don't know who made it or exactly which formula it was for. When I bought the car, it had been used as a video simulator as it had speaker holes in the rear bulkheand and the forward facing brace bars for the roll hoop had been badly modified - so I cut them off. I have compared it to just about every formula ford car I can find a picture of and have come to the conclusion that it must be a one off. If it looks at all familiar, I'd really like to know what it is. |

wot part of the world is it from? if it was made in the south chances are its still in the south well maybe lol looks like a FF to me. |

mis-matched race bits
I agree that the nose is Modus F3, but that is all that is Modus. A friend forwarded this thread to me as I have the ex Brett Riley 1976 Modus F3 and I could use a better nose than the one I got w/ it when I bought it. By mid-70s, all F3 cars were monocoque, and the side pods look to be for a side radiator car and the nose is definately for a front radiator car.
Any chance you'd like to sell just the nose? |

Bodywork looks totally non formula ford related, but the chassis does look a lot like a crossle.
The reason I say about the bodywork is that if it is an early crossle, then the radiator would have been in the nose. |

Andrew,
Even if your project sells, please pass my request to buy the nose on to the new owner. The Modus nose has nothing to do with the rest fo the pieces. |

Andrew,
Where are you located? I have a couple of friends scattered around UK who might be able to collect the nose fir me if it works that way. It doesn't seem to have it's inlet and exhaust ductwork in place, inside the nose. Normally, there is only a small space between them where the radiator sits. Do the rear uprights have any identification cast into them? Roger |
