Try Hard should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Jordan EJ-14

Well having had a look at the car, there seem to be a few interesting ideas on it.
1) rear wing endplate, I can't quite figure out how that curve affects the wing operation, maybe a drag reduction?
2) Nose cone. Interesting to see how it "bulges" out infront of the pushrod, (shown very well on some of the pics on F1Live). Also it (the nose) deffiently seem's higher than last year.
3) Sidepod Winglets, they look rather bulky. It seems like jordan have reverted to ideas seen a few years ago, with a flip up, endplate, and secondary wing section, and then combined it with the renault cooling funnel/winglet design.
Also compared to the current generation of cars (with the wonderful, curving, sloping pods), the 'pods do look fairly flat, and the rear end doesn't seem to be quite as small as some of the other teams (although this may be down to development costs). I reckon the 'pods are are smaller though, mainly in height.
4) Turning Vanes. No bargeboards on here, gone the Williams route of the horizontal turning vanes in front of the side pods, but there does seem to be some interesting detailing in that region, although well hidden by the black colouscheme.

Well the're just my observations, feel free to add any opinions/veiws

Ed

I've edited the thread title to distinguish this one from the merged EJ14/Trust/Jos discussion, so we can put design observations here, and keep the Jordan/Trust/Jos speculation seperate....

Those side pod winglets do look a bit bulky and vaugely reminiscent of the mid 80's somehow!

http://www.f1racing.net/photo/upload2/mTKHqUCDaqqHb.jpg

This image shows the sidepod winglets from a front/side viewpoint.

The car certainly doesn't look as svelte as some we have seen so far, no doubt time will tell....

I see that there is Trust in front of the sidepods, does this give us a clue to who will Partner Heidfeld? i.e. Verstappen.

Or has EJ poached Trust away from Verstappen?

Sorry just noticed the Jordan/Trust thread which this should have been in.

I agree with DNQ, it does resemble an Arrows A23.

We'll have to wait and see what it can do against the stopwatch before making any judgements.

I like the look of the front, lots of details seen to have been worked in around the front sidepods (looks single keel?). back seems bulky, Jordan have never gone to the kick ups to smooth airflow over back wheels (why?). black of course hides a lot but it doesnt seem to be slimming in this case. Looks like a big car!

The stopwatch will be the final judge of course, If they are ahead of Jag then its can be considered a good design considering the cash constraints.

somehow i think Jordan will remain at the same place in the WCC at the end of the season, the car looks OK, but i dont think there's anything new or revolutionary on the car!

they've gone the more common route now for the bits connecting the front wing to the nose cone, instead of coming out diagonally like last year, they goes pretty much straight down.

they've been doing the slanted versions as above since 2001, so i wonder why they've changed.

looks like it gone back to single keel this year as well. Interesting to see how (so-far anyway) all the Bridgestone runners have gone back/stayed with this concept. Must be something relating to the opereating characteristics of the tyres (the greater camber angle required i belive to be the main reason).
Also noticed an interesting bump on the bodywork, by the cockpit head protection, shown in this pic (bottom right hand side, stuck in the transition section between sidepod top and head protection).

EJ-14 interesting bump

Wonder what is so important under there that they couldn't have a completely smooth surface?

Seems like there's a removable panel there - it's in the right kind of spot for an oil filler, close to the top of the oil tank.

I notice that they have different end-plates on the rear wing today than they were running yesterday. On Tuesday they had an interesting curve to them, but today they're the usual rectangle. Also, that whole sidepod winglet assembly looks very bulky to me, but I suppose it's to be applauded that they're not just copying other people's cars On the whole, though, it at least looks slimmer than last years car. Probably not enough to lift them above ninth, though.

They have fuel refiller panels on both sides. which side is used depends on direction of the track.
