due to back injury if i got that right, by the way its next weekend these 28 cars race. also just to remind everyone as this is the fastest track in the uk there is no choice of tyres for this round. It has also seen it fair share of big crashes

So then if we assume it was Hawken he was to replace.. has he ran out of money, or not presented the money to drive anyway. Was this why his car wasn't ready at Brands.

If I were a betting man...................

Heard that Donnelly was denied his debut due to lack of NGTC miles!?! If that is true, then watch out for him pounding round Mallory Park any time soon.

Interesting that the print edition of Autosport ran the story that Donnelly would be replacing Hawken. They obviously assumed it was a done deal then had to publish the web story saying the reverse after the magazine had gone to print.

I did wonder if it might be mileage related. As part of the TBL licence announcement TOCA said that replacement driver needed to have done 300km NGTC testing, although there was the ability to wave that for drivers with extensive touring cars experience or drivers of "high repute". I would have assume Donnelly would get a waiver but I guess he's been out of high level motorsports too long.

Odd thing about that is that the mileage restriction does seem to apply to new drivers at the start of the season. Hawken did a half day test with Speedworks a couple of years ago, Palmer did little more than a extended shakedown the week before this season, would both of them be over the 300km limit?

It's only Autosport's misreporting that has caused confusion. This is the first official word we've had from either the team or series organisers.

Shame for Hawken, only competed one round. But I suppose Donnelly is fitting to the team ethos

He has replied on facebook..

Apparently he only found out by a friend posting the news on his wall.

What an awful way to find out if that was the case.

PERSONAL STATEMENT
I was shocked and surprised to learn from a fan on Facebook earlier that I am being replaced as a driver for the remainder of the 2015 BTCC season. Having been made aware of rumours earlier this week, they were vehemently denied by the team, yet here we are with a change of driver.
To say I am disappointed and disillusioned by the unprofessional, dishonourable manner in which this has been handled, is an understatement. For those who know me, you'll be aware of how much time and effort I dedicated to building this. The next one however will be bigger and better!
I have been advised to make no further comments on the situation at this stage.

If that is true then that is very unprofessional on the teams part.

I'd still be gutted for Rich if he had been told by the team and came to a mutual agreement, but the way it's been handled looks horrendously unprofessional. I heard that it was apparently Infiniti and not SOPR than made the decision, very poor HR from them. If I was him and they ended my contract like that I'd be looking into the legalities of it as well.

Well, on the upside this could mean an increaeed role taken by Infiniti in the future...

OTOH: Especially with Jackson or Thommo on the market right now, Donelly wouldn't be an obvious choice for such a move.
