Schumi better than ever!
Jean Todt: believes that Michael Schumacher still hasn't reached his peak as a driver.
"The Michael Schumacher we see next year will be the best Michael Schumacher ever. Ross Brawn:"Perhaps he's even enjoying it more," "I think he's definitely matured but is not yet past his peak." Read the rest here: http://www.itv-f1.com/news/news_story/19110 My sentiments exactly. What are yours? |

I love what Nelson Piquet said "if Michael leaves now, it will be a bad thing for F1".
Well said and I couldn't agree more! TGF has alot of gas left in the tank, and I say run it hard till it's gone! |

Errrmm... i'm a fan of Schumacher, but surely, that man has to peak somewhere?
I'd be surprised (pleasantly though) if this guy actually displayed an improvement, esp in terms of speed/quals/on track performance, next year. But good luck all the same, he's really a great mastero to appreciate. Last edited by Gt_R; 10 Dec 2003 at 15:30. |

Certainly he is in a completely new situation: he already holds the WDC record, therefore this could have two alternative effects:
1) No more pressure for the record, thus more relax and a better driving style. 2) No more pressure, thus less stamina in racing. Which one will prevail? Let's wait and see, obviously each of 10/10ers has a precise hope about, and two opposite parties could be easily identified... |

Possibly, it depends upon his psychology. I'm not sure which of (1) or (2) I'd choose.

Excellent point climb!
The pressure was immense this year, and he almost broke, so maybe this year will be more relaxing and fun for him, thus giving him a better driving style.(#1) |

on a related note read - I don't see michael slowing down yet.
http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto...ne/9125/?from=[HOME] Ferrari's team boss Jean Todt has reacted to renewed speculation in the German press that Michael Schumacher would consider retiring prior to the 2004 Formula 1 season, by saying the German will be back even stronger next year. Schumacher won a record sixth world title in 2003. "The Michael Schumacher we see next year will be the best Michael Schumacher ever," Todt told The Independent newspaper. "He's as motivated as he has ever been and if he went off the track at times this season, it didn't embarrass him too much as he won the title. If he feels he is not competitive enough, that is when he will stop." There have been persistent rumors about a Schumacher retirement ever since the middle of the 2003 season. Historically, most multiple champions have lost their motivation after a few titles. Juan Manuel Fangio called it a day halfway through the season after his fifth world title, although he might certainly have won more. Three-time champion Niki Lauda quit the sport twice during his prime and, more recently, Mika Hakkinen grew bored with the circus after two championships. But Todt believes Schumacher won't have that problem. “He is very intelligent. He loves driving and being with the team and winning races,” Todt said. “He never compromises -- it's amazing. "If we don't see him for two or three days, it's because he's off doing some karting. It's in his blood. So next year he will be the best we have ever seen him." |
