there are several talking points brought up in that article that i found interesting.
"As long as the data we get from the teams is correct and valid, then we can do a lot of work on structure which is important for safety and integrity," he said. earlier on in the year some teams may have been fitting the tires on the wrong wheels. im curious how this affected Pirelli's ability to make sense of the data they were getting. are some of the problems we are seeing a result of what happened earlier? "Where we are in difficulty is in the compound area, because we have four compounds to cover 20-plus races on a car that is dramatically different. "We don't want to be in a position where we arrive in Bahrain for the first time and don't have a number of options up our sleeves." my wish is that they would just bring each compound in sufficient quantity to each race. although logistically that would be difficult so perhaps a process teams can pick in advance which of the two compound they want and have that selection done secretly so no one knows until the race weekend. naturally over the season all the teams will probably make the same choices anyways but i always thought more freedom was the way out of this pickle. Pirelli is still eager for a post-season test in Brazil with one or two teams, and has even suggested that it would help if it could conduct a test in Bahrain in January. are they suggesting that they will bear some of the costs of testing? hopefully that is enough to get some of the smaller teams to agree and might actually be more beneficial if they can find a way to get more miles and close the gap to the mid field. |

Apart from more testing itself, I really think this last paragraph somes up the situation for Pirelli.
"And, if changes are to be made, it should be approved by a body like that, (F1's new Strategy Group) that has a mixture of teams, FIA and FOM. That will be the ideal situation, otherwise you end up with lobbying and you fall between the interests of the teams." |

But Heidfeld did not dominate Webber Webber out qualified Heidfeld 9 - 5, they finished ahead of each other 6 - 6, Heidfeld got 28 points to Webber's 24 and Heidfeld had a best finish of 2nd to Webber with 3 rd. Not exactly dominated! |

Now Pirelli threatens to quit F1 due to lack of testing.

History will ultimately show that Mark is/was a better driver than Nick, but the results he had against the other drivers beforehand that his supporters used to use as a guide as to how great he was had to be taken with a pinch of salt. |

Great distraction from F1s real problems which the FIA are responsible for! Not so good for Pirelli though; their product looks ... poor; so I would agree with you and back Pirelli here! F1 needs testing! |

I don't think it's the FIA that's actually causing the problem. It's up to the teams to work with Pirelli to get something sorted out. The problem being that none of the teams want to see any other team benefiting from Pirelli testing tyres on a one or two year old F1 car.
If I were Pirelli, I would state that we're going to go tyre testing; we're going to pay the team that finishes eleventh in the championship to do it and we're going to give them free access to all data recorded. |

Pirelli to test 2014 tyres in the next fortnight. But only RBR, Mercedes and Ferrari will be doing the test.

More surprising for me was the implication that Mclaren cannot afford the test.

Some talk of a Pirelli tyre exploding and a crash at top speed during the tyre test at Bahrain. Nico Rosberg was the driver. Not sure if he is hurt or not.

Yes I read that also. The most important thing is that he is not injured..
This is the whole idea of tyre testing I suppose.. |

side note i love how people still think deleting something from twitter makes it disappear...once a comment is out there it is out there as seen by numerous news sites quoting the deleted post. |
