Andre Lotterer to race in Mexico
According to Bild am Sonntag Jaguar testdriver André Lotterer will make his CART-debut in Mexico City on November 17 in a car entered by Dale Coyne Racing.
Lotterer tested last week for the team in Sebring and was really excited. Lotterer described the feeling as "pure racing" and "fast and challenging" For now it seems to be a one-off race, but the German is certainly thinking about going to the US next season. |

This is Coyne's effort, not affiliated with Team St.George?
Great news, either way! |

That's great. Hope its true. Looks like Dale is shaking things down for next season. Hopefully Coyne will make an announcement in Mexico for the 2003 plan.

With all of these rumoured new teams, I'd really like to see a few more Reynards on the grid!

Who in the what now is paying for what to happen?
I haven't found this on any other website, but if it is true, my guess is that it involves a big bag of cash from Mr. Lotterer to Dale Coyne... or from some magical sponser... Last edited by Jay; 5 Nov 2002 at 19:59. |

Andre is represented by the same people who represent Nick Heidfeld, Frank Biela and Tom Kristensen.

If it is true, it is always good to have more cars.
But Lotterer? I don't think he's good enough. |

Lotterer was Courtneys teammate in the jaguar 2000/2001 F3 team in Britain. Lotterer was also a test driver for Jaguar in 2001. When Niki cancelled the F3 team and sold it he financed Courtney into the Carlin F3 team and Lotterer was out of contract. I don't know what he did in 2002.

Lotterer was a test driver for Jaguar this year, only really in name though i think, i'm not sure how much running he got.

Great to see Dale Coyne racing back in CART in their own right, I hope they can put something together for 2003, I am sure they can.

I don't expect him to do as well as Manning did at Rockingham, as Darren had track experience, local backing and perhaps more talent. But it'll be nice to see Dale back in action, he's been struggling for cash ever since Walter Payton left us. He is the kind of owner who Target, Malboro, Honda, Toyota etc crowded out in the past, and who has a love of racing as opposed to a love of $. This coukld be a very significant victory for CART to have him back.

Hate to rain on the parade, but I've seen no confirmation from Dale's squad and I haven't heard back from Lotterer's management.
Is it possible that CART's given funding to Dale to run Andre since they've supposedly signed a new TV contract in Germany and will be broadcasting the Mexico City race and need a German to cheer for? |

what about the tv contract? does it have live coverage for 2003? i hope so, son´t want to watch every race one week later
anyway, about lotti: when it was in bild am sonntag , i´m not sure wether i should believe it or not, on the other hand bild normally isn´t spreading cart news (only f1 rumours) so it could be true! and why shouldn´t dale coyne have a german driver, they had michael krumm last year and lotterer isn´t that bad! so (if it´s true) we´ll see how he will do |
