Yes, that would explain the modest results. Still, great to see the cars from Modena out racing

After having 31 entries at Brands Hatch for the Northern Cup (no KTM Reiter Young Stars there), there will be 32 entries this weekend for the Southern Cup.

Las Moras Racing, Ekris Motorsport and Equipe Verschuur joining the French teams on the streets of Pau.

Allied's plans foiled by the crash at BH?

I rather enjoyed seeing these at Brands, would like them to return next year, just with an extra race to make up for all the safety car running!

A lot of people have upgraded to the Cayman already, I guess there's teams like Ekris who might take one, and people running older Porsches and the Ginettas.

And the Audi is coming too.

Great that there is more new options in the class, but with so many people having bought a Cayman in recent years I can't see them wanting to make a second investment, unless they sell the Cayman for small change second hand!

Well, there was an article on Endurance-Info a little while ago, that suggested that a number of French teams actually aren't quite happy with their Caymans and at least two want to move on for next year
http://www.endurance-info.com/fr/pau...fos-du-samedi/

Good thing about the Cayman is that there are plenty of places to run it outside the GT4 world, so re-sale value should be alright.

I'd also expect customers for the new cars from outside the current GT4 ranks, e.g. AKKA-ASP have already voiced some interest in running a Merc at some point during the current season.

There were only two classes before, for 30+ cars. Other series had three or even four already with similar numbers of cars ;-)

No more Misano, Brands Hatch, Slovakiaring, Red Bull Ring and Zandvoort in 2018 for the GT4 European Series. Nürburgring the only one remaining on the calendar.

Can you explain the situation around the British GT4 Cup? AIUI they'll only run with British GT at Spa and Silverstone. Will British GT be GT3-only for the other rounds? And what about the Silver/Silver pairings that already exist in British GT, will they be broken up?

I thought they always will run with British Gt on the same weekends but often have separate races

Right, but that leaves GT3 at a rather awkward position unless they can find half a dozen of additional entries for next year. And the there's also the Silver/Silver pairings, which make up a not-insignificant part of the GT4 field.

Any idea why they dropped Zandvoort? With Ekris and Las Moras two loyal GT4 entries a Dutch round makes sense.

I think with the main GT4 series becoming a permanent support race of Blancpain GT, going to Zandvoort was not an option anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Zandvoort show up in the planned Central European Series, which might be part of the ADAC GT package.

Totally correct.

Organisers saying they are confident of an expanded GT3 field next year but I say it's not worth much without 18+ cars

Also remember GT3 will run with GT Cup cars welcome next year which they believe will fill out the field

I'd say this move is more one based around GT4 doing very well and needing more space, than any concern for GT3

It is indeed planned that a semi-independent cup in British GT with GT CUP cars as support to GT3, while at some rounds the British GT4 Cup will running semi-independently from British GT.

Think it was something like 4 races with split-grids, 1 standalone event and two with combined grids.

GT4 European Series with Blancpain is the main reason. Obviously there could still be a change in calendars, as Budapest is TBC and a seventh race is under consideration.

So far Zandvoort doesn't feature on a Central Europe series calendar either.

Right, the old "GT Cup to prop up GT3" thing - because that has worked so well in the past!
