I'm puzzled by the decision of the HTTT track organisers to close the official test to the public. I was there in 2009 and there was a fair amount of people, I thought it was a good income to take for them. 2010 was open too.
If Audi or Peugeot were testing their 2011 cars I would have thought it's their will (wouldn't be the first time), but here... |

No one seems to be going particularly quickly but I did notice the quickest P2 is some 7 seconds quicker than the best LMPC.

Second session - one of the Rebellion Lolas posted a 1:46.573, and three cars under 1:47 (that, the Quifel Zytek and the Pescarolo).

Thank you. But joeb, somehow I doubt that the Jota Aston really went 20 seconds quicker than the leading Ferrari Should be interesting to see how the F430 really compares to 458 in the early season.

The Norma is a real looker especially with the livery they have on it. Too bad the pretty ones are usually the slow ones!
I'm not really sure what to make of the test results. I'm not really sure if we can make much of the results. Surely the RML Honda will not be this slow come race time. Either way, it's interesting to see the two GTE Astons up the order. |

Cold weather also goes a long way towards explaining the fact that the Hankook Ferrari topped both sessions in GTE-Pro... probably down to the tires in the end.

The one thing that isn't surprising I guess is that the teams running familiar packages in P1 and GTE-Pro are generally faster than ones with new or modified packages. |

AMR Teams on twitter reported earlier that both Aston GT2's suffered crash damage today. Jota are getting spares flown in for tomorrow but Young Driver won't run tomorrow. Don't know who was at the wheel at the time, how/where etc.

I know there was some kind of dispensation given over the engine. Afternoon session also shows the difference between the lead P2 and LMPC is 4 seconds. |

Unlikely as I said in another thread, its more likely the setup sheets for the F430 is the size of a NYC Telephone book, while the data for the F458 is the size of a postage stamp because of bad weather (as confirmed by Melo) hampered testing miles.

Heres the thing i don;t expect the F458 italia GT2 to be as fast as the F430 out of the box. Ypu have to understandthat the F430 is the fastest GT2 car out there and is a well sorted out car. the customer program for ferrari 430's rivals and if not betters the customer porsche GT2 program. Lemans was it last year or the year before had like 10 ferraris vs. 3 porsches. The F430 laid down the mark for being easy on the tires and lightning fast and easy to drive which is why everyone wanted it. The F430 is sorted out and the F458 is a newborn.

430 is a well developed car, but it's not as reliable as they would like. Compared to Porsche and Corvette, this maybe a real trouble, except if they've found a solution in this winter. Porsche has suffered Ferrari in its first two years of racing with 997, but then Porsche has inverted the situation, winning the most important things in the last two years. In its first year of career F430 GT2 has suffered several troubles with wheel hub (if I'm not wrong), and lost a lot of opportunities to win. Anyway, this year 458 shall have to win against itself, proving to be competitive and reliable enough, at the same time. You can't win if you are only fast, or only reliable. You must be both things at the same time! |

Report for session 3:
http://www.endurance-info.com/versio...ance-6539.html Slower times, tweets from the track say that a good part of the session was affected by rain. |

Rebellion Racing's Facebook page states that they will not be running in the 4th session (this afternoon), as the team personnel is leaving for Sebring.

what surprised me most is the gap between GT Am and GT Pro,to my understanding,IMSA Matmut just have 2 Pro cars...Narac is fast and Armino is even faster.

Narac is considered a gentleman driver , albeit a bloody quick one . That car stands a brilliant chance in the AM class .....
