Info on circuits and posts

I know that somewhere there's a website that has useful info about circuits from the marshalling point of view -- where the posts are, radio frequencies, etc. Blowed if I can find it though! Anyone point me to it?

I'd rather take a bit of time and do it in a manner that was easy to update and search, I'll have a think about it.

You may not have to recreate all the information, although you might possibly have issues with copyright. I'm not sure if you could copy the information and use it "as is", or if you would need permission.

Meantime, there are a few creations on google maps - e.g. Silverstone, A Map for Marshals, originally put together for the GP a few years ago and updated for last year's.

Try looking up the different circuits on http://www.marshals.co.uk/ for info ( they live under the regional sections > Circuits)

Any others, come back here and I am sure you can soon get the info you need.

I tend to find that if you google "<circuit name>a map for marshals" it tends to come have been done for most circuits.

The ones ive used seem fairly up to date and accurate, and can be a god send if your at a new circuit!

Theres information for UK circuits on there, made by marshals for marshals etc to use

To be genuinely useful any such resource needs to be available to anyone - just like Marshals Post. Lets hope Marshals Post can be resurrected or replicated.

A couple of years ago I had a go at setting something up that could be used as a resource and did a bit of messing here. with Brands Hatch

From memory I got the information off the old MarshalsPost site. If anyone thinks this is a good idea then drop me a PM and I'll resurrect the idea.

re: the Google maps
I never locked them away, all are free access on Google, have been for years
BMMC regions have utilised them on their home pages, especially SE region, since that's where I'm from and know the best.
I try and link to them when people ask on here.
I only added the list to that facebook page because, well, it gave more/different people access. It was certainly successful in that somebody then took the time to add detail to the Croft and Knockhill maps.

There are however, those that say they are unneccesary, their circuit has their own maps, why does somebody from Brands do a map for xyz circuit, why has'nt he done one for xyz?...etc

You know the internet - feeding petty arguements since (1992 in my case)

I'm sure Grant will present the information in a clear and logical way in his own time. Over to you big boy.

meanwhile, casting my eye over them, somebody moved the location of the cafeteria (into the lake!) and fire 2 (out into the fields) at Mallory - if anyone knows where they should be, can they move them. For the moment I've "parked" them in the paddock.

I've fixed that for you.

The cafeteria is where it's always been. Fire 2 is at the end of the pit lane. . . not sure if that always applies, but I did Fire 2 at the Motors TV meeting last year & that's where I was parked.
