BHF Heartstart Basic Life Support Courses
Hi Folks,
There has been alot of talk about marshals requesting first aid training. I took this on board and I am now with a couple of colleauges in the last parts of setting up the British Heart Foundation Heartstart Basic Life Support Scheme to teach Basic Life Support. We have the thumbs up from BHF and the equipment is now arriving. I am in the last bits of sorting out the admin and a few other bits like bank account etc. So whats the idea?. Well I am starting the scheme in the South East region to set up and understand it and iron out any wrinkles. I aim to put marshals and motor sports persons through first and then open to public courses as a way of promoting the BHF and marshalling and motor sports. The BMMC and the MSA are aware of what I am doing so there are no secrets. This is a service provided by IVMUK for marshals and the courses are free. We will only ask for donations as this is what the schemes rely on to keep running and pay for hire fees, equipment etc so its all for the charity and providing the motor sports and local community a service. The course wil cover: CPR, Unconcious casualty(recovery position) Primary Survey, Choking and basic bleed managment and chest pain. The courses will be run during the seaon and off season and we are looking to utilise evenings during the season. Once I have the SE set up then I will be looking for others in other regions to set up and run it for their communities and marshals etc. I will assist them and stay as the training supervisor untill they are sorted. I have 2 venues in Essex: Grays and Basildon and I am sourcing one in Kent for now. Also once we have done a few courses and anyone feels they would like to become an instructor, I can run the Heartstat instructor courses as well so it opens oppertunities for marshals to see another branch and develope in to it. Each student will receive on completion of the course a certifacate, an info card and a sew on patch for their overalls. There is still alot to do in the background and I cannot tell you the amount of effort and work and time that has gone into this so far. I want this to work and I hope you will all book on and come to the courses, donate and spread the word to make it work. Withouth you guys it will fail. Dates and venues will be advertised when we are ready and we look forward to welcoming you all to these courses. I am in talks with Chris Hobson ref PRC's receiving a signature as well and he has to go through his process at the MSA to see if thats ok(TBC) This is the first project from IVMUK to provide extra training and development for marshals and we hope you all welcome this. We have to start somewhere and I think this fits the needs. I hope you will all see what I am looking to achieve with this and book and donate. If anyone wants to chat ref this then please pm me or look for my details on the BMMC SE contacts page under SE Training Officer or you can e-mail: heartstart.ivmuk@hotmail.co.uk Rgds, Richard Sneader Intervention Heartstart South East Training Supervisor |

Oh yes, I'll have some of that thanks. Put me down.
Might be worth having a word with JP, maybe a course could be run in the msv building? |
