Jealous, though that Barry Lee Escort was my Favourite.

Thanks Minimadness for posting the link, as that was one of Barry`s Hot Rods that I don`t remember

Scaletrix is currently working on a Schanche 1991 ERC winning RS200 anyway.

Ha, ha, if only!

though we did get a STP mk3 with a John Welch feel, and Escort Cosworths of Steve Palmer and Barry Squibb.

I do feel scalextrix are missing a trick, because with their digital system and pit lane track, they could do a rallycross set with a joker lap......

Didn't they once do a Rallycross special edition of Scaletrix? I'm sure I remember something with Minis and bumpy grass/mud track from Christmases long ago...?

You remember those Christmas Days well - think it was released in 1978 with Mini Clubmans and ran for a few years. The green track is now rare - used for the horse racing one as well.

I continue to seek counselling for being a geek.

Should know about the 1991 Schanche RS200 as being asked for pictures some time ago.

???????? Sorry I thought you were trying to wind Mark up, have just brought a hand built special.

After wanting scalextric to make rallycross cars for so long, I dare not believe it.

But I suppose in a way in makes sense as the RS200 had a longer life and achieved far more on the rallycross circuits than it ever did in rallying.

Some time ago I was contacted by Justin S., who runs the genuine RS200 website (not the bulk copied one) and did the recent RS200 book, for pics of Martin's RS200 for the company. The first representative of them wanted defo the 1992 car/livery that was involved in the Schanche/Gollop/Rantanen incident in Finland when Martin stopped the A final and was subsequently blocked for some ERC rounds. Later on another of their man contacted me and wanted pics of the 1991 ERC winning car, that I had recommended to the first man several times. As I then understood that the left hand there did not know what the right hand was doing (they also mixed up the golden roof Bitsa with chassis #012, the first ever E2) I gave up my efforts. However, I'm certain they found other pics to bring out a Schanche 1991 RS200 soon.

Sounds promising. Great that the slotracing community is rediscovering rallycross.

I wonder if Scalextric will produce a miniature Schanche figure you can put out on the track to stop the race when things go wrong?

Hear, hear! More of the same please! Can't see any details as such, but there is an official mention for the set about a third of the way down this page:

http://scalextric.hornby.com/2012/

And a render to go with it:

I wonder what it will retail for?

I already have the Doran RS200 complete with front and rear splitters etc.
I also have Renny's RS200 when debuted back in 85'.

Now we have another person selling a Schanche Escort. Shame he left it on Ferrari wheels !!

Renny debuted the RS200 in 1986, not '85.

Right again!

Just glad Scalextric has finally got round to a proper 6R4, rather than just the prototype version.

But as they will be doing a rally version, I guess the rallycross version will end up with the air intakes on the doors.

Completely agree the originals were awful.

The Metro on the pic is Per Eklund's 6R4.

another Scalextric Rallycross model on the way...

the preview clue on the scalextric website -

"From the European Rallycross series in 1991 - a beast of the track!"

the picture shows a 2 and part of an H on a Blue Background

so guessing a British Championship car - Trevor Hopkins 2nd RS200

Anyway, well done for another rallycross car scalextric!!!! A Hoppy would be good to add to the Gollop 6R4, Schanche RS200, Squibb Escort Cosworth, Palmer Escort Cosworth and Welch look alike STP XR3i they have done in the past
