Yesterday JVL timed 10th, just 1.249s behind Y. Muller, who was the fastest .

Will be very interesting to see how they will perform over a full race distance in their first try. |

JVL won the Porsche Supercup race today on Istanbul; shows how quick he is. I think the Russian Bears made a very wise move hiring him, and I actually hope we'll see more from him in WTCC.

Yes, I don't know how they got him to take the drive! It's looking good so far (far better than I predicted), but I'll wait until they're actually racing before getting excited.

I think Michael Bleekemolen made a big mistake not hiring him

The set up reminds me of Proton entering the BTCC, even the car looks the same!.

Well Proton did actually get some decent results.. Shaun Watson-Smith got a podium or two IIRC. Don't think Lada'll make onto the podium, but if Proton can get points, so can these guys.

Considering the amount of competition in 2003 (Just 3x Vauxhall's, 3x works Honda's, 3x MG's) - that's not a great acheivement for Proton getting the results they were getting. Last edited by Hazard; 14 May 2008 at 19:49. |

Lada don't have David Leslie's genius helping make a shed into a race-car...

Bearing in mind it has a Vauxhall engine prepped by Speiss, i'm not sure this would be one for Touring Car Rejects.

Please, give a round of applause...the Lada had made it to the WTCC track in Spain!
And has already run faster than independents trophy leader Tielemans in the first test! |

But they didn't drive in the official first practice. And Tielemans had an Engine problem yesterday.

Lada Made the top 20 in their first official practice session - only 1/2 a second away from the likes of Rydell/Thompson/Porteiro.

Who would bet against a top fifteen in qualifying now?

Lada won't be able to score constructors points this season, right?

Engines comes from Swindon, not Spiess as previously reported.
That homologation problem with the engine was that it was prepared as a Chevy S2000 engine, but the production version used in Lada differs a bit from the one Chevy uses. More here: http://www.russianbearsmotorsport.co...elease275.html |

So Swindon is developing the engines for Chevrolet and LADA.

Don’t so worry about Lada. From Lada only left external panels.
But to made run behind leaders, next year hoping for podium places in few tracks that suits, they need “own M.Schumacher” that not only build and tune-up car run smooth by track, but gather team around him. For now, to know at what direction to build car, need person like Alain Menu, Rickard Rydell, Gabriele Tarquini… that knows specific of tracks and has much km at them. Shapovalov not that person, i'll look at biography of Jaap van LAGEN, but think same he as Shapovalov. |

Shapovalov is a real racing enthusiast. I know he's racing since 1998. He's done a lot at local area. He had a very ambitious project in our Russian Supertourism championship (heavy modified 1600 cars). He can gather a very strong team around him. And Van Lagen I think is a strong pilot. This mix should work well. But... They've failed their exam with the engine again.

If you mean an IG project, nothing gathered, especially by him. Molchanov showed better results, if it could say results. About car, perfect idea, rwd, transaxel , good balance 50/50, BUT(!) bad aerodynamics, bad motor, money that goes elsewhere, ended as always, i know who took cars and spares for cheap. He done and doing great job to pushing Lada at world arena, i’m very pleased, and wishez further steps, but it could end like always. If needed russian driver, maybe, better choice Dudu. |
