2008 Cams Motorsport Personality of the Year

It is obvious that Cams & "the media" have shown great excitement & enthusiasm in announcing who won the award at the gala dinner held last Friday in Melbourne at the Sofitel.

It hasn't even been posted on their website or in any other media as far as i can see or read.

Looks like it was another excuse for a free p**s up down at East Malvern.

Dosent surprise anybody though I'm sure.

For those who don't know who Glen Raymond is, simply click the link and have a read, it's really not that hard

I'm betting the Rally boys were far more unanimous in their support that the circuit fans.

Well, Simon and Sue Evans have both won it before - so I would say that the rally crews really get behind their own rather than b****ing among themselves.

Either that, or there are just far more superior personalities in rallying than circuit racing.

With some of the Rally fraternity departing CAMS shores on the MV AASA earlier this year, a cynic might consider the winner being a strategic victory.

But marketing types wouldn't have any influence on something as transparent as a CAMS award, now would they ?

Did the AASA ARC even occur? I can't recall hearing anything since the announcement? Was it for a 2009 series?

I think they tried, but everyone forgot to turn up!

How often has a CAMS press release proven to be so true!?

And what did CAMS do for rallying in 2008, other than blow a lot of hot air and produce a lot of media releases about that they are 'going to do'?

Does anyone know if CAMS managed to raise the necessary funds to do this:

There is nothing listed in the Federal Courts listings...

It was resolved behind closed doors amicably, hence the CAMS car series going to AASA tracks in '09

Edit: posted after Trev's post.

Any ideas on how "amicable" the resolution was? It was a rather nice surprise to see Wakefield and Winton on the calendar for the Nationals next year
