James Courtney signs with the revamped Holden Dealer Team?????

Former Formula One tester and current V8 Supercar pinup James Courtney will return to Holden, joining the revamped Holden Dealer Team as the driver of its #22 race car.

After three years with Ford team Stone Brothers Racing and their Jeld-Wen backed Falcon, Courtney will partner former series champion and 2000 Bathurst winner Garth Tander in 2009 in the two Toll-Mobil E85 HDT Commodores. (An announcement for the driver of the HSV-Mobil 1 HDT cars will be made shortly)

The new Holden Dealer Team is a merger of the Holden Racing Team and the use of the licences of defunct teams Ford Rising Stars Racing and PWR who are now under the control of Tom Walkinshaw and his Perfomance Group. The HDT will field four cars with backing of Holden, HSV Toll Holdings and Mobil with their 1 and E85 green products.

The potential pairing of two drivers of both Tander's and Courtney's level for the 2009 enduros counted heavily in his favour as well Courtney's affinity with sponsors and his talent with the media.

“After a few lacklustre years with Ford and the Stone Brothers Racing team, it was great to be called back to the leading Holden team,” Courtney said.

“To say that I am excited about 2009 is an understatement; I am motivated more than ever and confident that the team will be a force in 2009.

“The Holden Dealer Team is the team to beat; it’s exciting to be a part of it.”

Courntey's decision to rejoin the Holden Dealer Team was made easier thanks to the team’s recent performance at Oran Park.

“The potential is there, we’ve just got to unlock it. I’m really looking forward to working with the team as we enter the next phase.

“The Commodores were good this year; it had good pace and looked to be well balanced. There’s a lot to look forward to in 2009. Clipsal can’t come soon enough for me.”

Holden Dealer Team is excited to have Courtney rejoining the team.

“I’ve known James since the Jaguar (now known as Red Bull Racing) days so I know what a good pick up he is for the Holden Dealer Team again" Tom Walkinshaw said.

“Jim has a wealth of experience and talent plus he knows most of the crew when he drove with Jim Richards back in 2005 at Sandown and Bathurst. His engineering understanding and feedback is exceptional, he is a significant addition to the team.

“I expect him to complement Garth and the engineering team well as we continue to move forward.”
Also found some footage of James' first spin in a VE Commodore (K2 ride car) http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=edaJP3Lp0Gg

What do you people think? A bit left field. And we all belived that Will Davison was going to join the Holden team. Ah well. At least we know who's going to replace Skaife.

If you seriously belive this, you're a fool. This is a joke. Note the Rick Roll video. I know I have a strange sense of humor, so don't point that out. ROFLCOPTER

Didn't see that one coming.

If they have 4 cars, surely WD is driving one of those?

The Million Dollars a year all makes sense now...

Dick would never have paid that much for a bloke who can't win races....(He already has one of those ! )

I Think it is all total BS, there was enough evidence at oran park after the race of where he was going much the same as where will was going.

I actually liked the Rick Astley video....

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you....

Quite an appropriate song potentially
