McLaren - Lack of sponsors???....
Erm - is it me or is there no title sponsor on the McLaren launch photos?...... sure Honda will be pumping 10's or millions into McLaren, but the McLaren is looking awfully bare on the sponsor front, I thought there would be a big company like for example "Play Station" splashed across the side pods and rear wing, but its just bits and bobs and loads of open spaces......has Rons abrasive character really scared off that many sponsors, looks so to me......Not even Alonso appears to have brought in a big spanish company or bank, sadly I suspect as they are probably all all rather skint
also, while I'm not big on colour schemes, is it me or does this underwhelm you also?.......talk about boring........I was kind of hoping for some red and white stripes to evoke memories of the 80's McLaren-Hondas......seems a lost opportunity to me http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/31036093 yawn . |

The lack of sponsorship is obvious on many of the cars, times are hard and getting a large sum from companies that have there own cash priorities is always a problem, luckily the TV money helps fill the whole

maybe if the rule makers made they're mind up, it wouldn't be such an expensive operation.... Changing to the v6 and teams then pumping in vast amounts of money for development and research, to then decide its a new engine set up for 2016 onwards.
Im sure they will then be more, 'draining' on the kitty for further research and development. no wonder sponsors aint interested. |

Strange they still use the silver. Looks still a "silberpfeile".

Chrome is the McLaren corporate colour. Red is Honda's.
It is a logical, if horrible and disappointing, selection of colours in the absence of a bona fide title sponsor. |

McLaren are to change the livery on the new car sometime.
@McLarenF1: Ron Dennis: "Our 2015 livery will change, but I'm not going to say when..." Hope they make a better job of it next time. |

Sounds like what he's really saying is "Our 2015 livery will change, but I can't say when as I have to wait for somebody to sponsor us first"

However, it may be that they do have a major sponsor lined up, but that all the contracts may need to be finalised. |

I don't really get Ron coming out and saying how 'oh just because everyone thinks it's disappointing, we shouldn't change it' (paraphrasing).
Surely having a different looking car to all of the rest of the cars is a good enough reason alone to change it....? Isn't it about creating a 'brand'? What's the point in being a crap version of Mercedes?! Plus, from a Honda perspective, I wouldn't like the car to look like the livery synonymous with McLaren Mercedes. I just get the feeling these guys really overthink, sometimes. There was also a comment about how 'White and red were the Honda colours - why would we want to go back to that?'. Erm, what?! What a stupid thing to say! God forbid, why would you want to honour tradition, stand out, and go back to the winning partnership colours? Don't know why, but this attitude irked me a bit. As much as Ron asks 'why should we change?' (which was the main point of his statements), I ask 'why on earth wouldn't you change?!'. Selby |

I would just change it Ron because the car does not know what the hell it is ...
Your fans seem to think it's a crap paint job, that's a good enough reason Mr Dennis .. So please get those vastly overpaid designers to get off their asses and make it happen ..yours sincerely |

The front end (head on view) really reminds me of the 2009 car, which was a fairly sexy little number...

It's not a good start, but no worse than Renault's pre-season tests last year.

They have fixed the issue plaguing them this morning and are hoping to do another pedestrian lap before the day has gone.
