If they bring in that rule then they have to make it non-championship

If it was your $500,000 race car out there you probably wouldn't like being told you didn't have full control over who you want to get behind the wheel either

Although I do agree he is whinging just because it suits him to

Lol........I must admit, disruptions to normal life can be a pain in the neck when someone decides to hold a sporting event on your doorstep and you personally have no interest in it.

isnt exciting the number of people posting in here from non australian locations.

Cant help but think the format is a winner
A Lot of people , who are roadracing fans in the US were impressed. They hope the Texas event is a similar format.

According to...?

From everything I've seen, most were impressed by Bathurst... Which featured local drivers, and genuine racing...

As opposed to the manufactured gimmick that didn't result in much excitement (except for James Moffat in Race 1 - a local) at all in 600km of racing...

They were impressed by BOTH and most importantly Seb's emotional acceptance of the Dan Wheldon Trophy.

It was my understanding that all the international drivers were all contracted, paid, fed and watered by V8SC and that individual teams were not contracting them on their own.

The 2010 Gold Coast 600 set the bar incredibly high for entertainment and exciting racing, and by all accounts, the 2011 event moved the bar even higher.

With possibly a few more IndyCar drivers in the field--including a top female pilot like Simona de Silvestro--and at least one GRAND-AM champion, the third edition of the Gold Coast 600 would be almost perfect.

Does this mean that V8SC will have the power in the future (if the event lasts that long) to place drivers in certain cars that may influence the outcome of the championship?

Say for example the wish to close the championship up a little heading onto the Gold Coast round - can of worms

Any more word on the international categories the Qld Government was looking at?

Anna Bligh government is more focused on survival at the moment, motor racing is far from a pressing issue.

Maybe Cocho should just sign up 28 drivers and have the teams draw names out of a hat???

There are problems with manufacturer alignment with some drivers. For example, Mr Pirro is a brand ambassador for Audi, and not sure if anyone else noticed, but his SP Tools race suit was identical to Mr van Gisbergen's except.. it didnt have any Ford logos aboard

Similarly Mr Liuzzi raced in an RPM Wilson Security race suit, but it had his F1 backers (Tata and UMS) stitched into the design.

Mr Farfus had a GRM race suit but it was devoid of any Holden branding, in deference to his day job at BMW Motorsport.

Mr Long wore a 'The Team' race suit, as opposed to a Jim Beam one, and brought along longtime team sponsor FXDD to the suit and the race car, as did Mr Pagenaud at GRM.

While going the other way, Mr Bourdais took on a Vodafone visor sticker for his helmet on the Gold Coast weekend...

Not sure how many main game teams would have the freedom to modify their race suit branding packages to suit this event... but it is a bit more complex to satisfy their commercial requirements from the other side of the world..

I was told that the Audi lead drivers i.e. LeMans drivers, were not allowed to compete for this very reason.

It's for this reason I can't see new Chevrolet driver Will Power back with FPR in 2012...
