Plastic Windscreens

Does anyone know of an alternative source for perspex or polycarbonate windscreen forming from moulds - sag or vacforming - in the UK?

My moulds have been at an un-named specialist for 3 months without anything to show so far.

Just spotted the Windscreens thread although it is not really that helpful for alternative sources - but the administrator may want to put this on the end of that thread, which is beyond my ken.

White Elephant at Boreham Wood seem to be able to do just about anything, they also have a fantastic scratchproof sheet available.

Gordon, it is for an Elfin 300 sports racer.

It is the prototype so has an all aluminium body and although Elfin Australia have an original mould I doubt it would fit well enough or survive transit.

I have had a mould make here and although the shape is not complex they never seem to get round to doing the job despite many calls.

Thanks for the White Elephant lead, I'll give the other guys one more chance and then move the job.

Can't find any trace of White Elephant on the internet, do you have an address or phone number for them?

Cheers

Mercury and Phillips in Norwich are pretty good, but not exactly local.

A sheet of polycarbonate isn't expensive, and you can bend it to just about any shape and fix it with self tappers. You won't break it even if you bend it at 90 deg. I've used it for years although the normal Lexan that I use does scratch if you use the wipers. Obviously the anti scratch is the one to go for.
Whatever, its a cheaper option than a glass screen and is unbreakable.
If the regulations allow it I would never use a laminated screen again, and another thing in its favor is its tons lighter than glass.

Sorry I dont, but they did some rear side windows with louvers in for a 166 a bout three years ago, perhaps they have gone pop.I would always go for the scratch proof [to a degree] Lexan though.

Thanks for the Mercury and Philips lead, White Elephant seem to be just that from my searches so far..

Bending a sheet of PC isn't possible, the screen is compound curves a bit like a Mclaren M8 so needs heat and a little pressure. A good vacformer with incremental metering is required.

Anyway, the day I started this thread I got an email saying the mould was now on the machine so fingers crossed!

Check out on my site, http://www.hemipanter.se/ , I use a polycarbonate windscreen (Lexan) 6 mm thick.
On each side I put on a "splitter film" which is a clear sun-film that is scratch proof. It is bent to shape by hand anf hold by the original rubber frame.
Fare down the site. On top there is a darker sun film with the hemipanter logo.
I must admit that i was a bit tricky to get (bend) it in place, took me two hr.
I put in doubt that on will get a more shaped window in place

Thanks for that information. They made a couple of screens for my Jomo FF's, 40 years ago from my mould. I will contact them to see if they still have it for some more. Several of the FF's have surfaced and require screens.
