It is great for me to see this footage, as I was marshalling at this meeting.
The F3 'screamers' provided large grids of close exciting racing as the film shows. The sights and sounds of the F5000 cars were awesome, and we were so privileged to see them raced by an array of such cracking drivers!
Here is one of the photos I took in the paddock. It is Trevor Taylor's Lola T190 Vegantune-Chevrolet.

A fantastic piece of history there. I particularly liked the saloon car action (my favourite genre really) especially as it featured the Roy Pierpoint Rover P5 V8 that was the subject of an interesting thread on Ten-Tenths some time ago.

Fantastic footage! Can anyone tell me who were racing the Imps in the 1000cc class? The paintwork is similar to the Fraser team but I think 1970 is too late for them. Could it be John Turner? Also there is a blue-ish with red stripe car that perhaps could be an early Bevan/McGovern car?

I filmed it

Hi all, I'm new. I filmed the Thruxton and posted it there. You are spot on johnh875 it is indeed John Turner. The other Imps are Alaister McHardy white n. 209 and the blue with red stripe is Mike Freeman. I lived in Italy at the time (1962 to 1973) and most of my films are from there but in about a month I've got stuff I filmed in UK going on toutube, my nick there is same as here

To go on Youtube.
Crystal Palace, Daily Express Trophy,7.8.1971

Mallory Park, BRSCC meeting 8.8.1971

Silverstone, Uniflo Trophy meeting 14.8.1971

Brands, SCMC meeting 15.8.1971

Crystal Palace Hexagon Trophy meeting. This was the very last race for modern machinery before it closed permanently. There was one last meeting, 2 weeks later I think, for historics. 9.9.1972

Brands TEAC meeting, 10.9.1972

Oulton Park, MCMRC meeting 16.9.1972

and last but not least Brands BRSCC meeting 17.9.1972

I then came back to live here and started to race. Anyone remember me ,Roy Pagliacci? Last bloke to win with a Lotus 61.
All the above films are with original sound in real time, not false dubbing. Very rare then for an amateur like me. But guys, open your horizons and go and see the Italain stuff of mine on youtube. Very few minis, Imps and Escorts and so many unkown Italian drivers but good racing. May I reccomend http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Vh_btZyQv4o parts 1, 2 and 3. Get to see Fitzpatrick in the lead by more than a lap against all the Alfas and get a puncture half an hour b4 the end. Finished second.

Thanks Roy, look forward to it.

Yes already had a peep at the Italian stuff: Monza and Vallelunga are some of them right? Nice footage again!

Also have you got anything from late 70's at all?

Late 70's

Yes, Monza and Vallelunga. The latter before and after change of direction. Sorry no films after end of 73. In 74 I got behind the wheel of F.Ford and couldn't film and drive at the same time..

Ha ha, yes methinks that would be quite difficult unless you had taken any tips from John Frakenheimer during the filming of 'Grand Prix.'

Look forward to your further contribution to 10-Tenths Roy!!

Out of interest what made you choose 'The Quo' as the soundtrack for your Thruxton clip?

Soundtrack for Thruxton

Choosing soundtracks I find very difficult. I'm not an expert in music at all and just pick stuff I know ,I look at the film with the music playing and see if it fits, so to speak. That's what happened with the Quo. The films with sound are far easier for me to edit cos I don't have to think of the music.....it's already there with the sound of the engines.....
See what you think of this. The race was on normal roads, like the real Mille Miglia or the Targa Florio, I thought a lot about the music for this cos it's a very very special race
