driftwood has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Only 1 Maguire skoda built raced by Tom shepherd in 1980 then sold to hillclimber sprinter Michael hanson ran 1300 bdh motor
i do not believe it ever raced on the circuits again

Former Combe GT champion Geoff Thorne from Burnham on Sea had a Skoda which I'm sure he told me was a Maguire ... there was no engine or box in the car when I saw it, but I think he had a 1500 BD at the time ...

There where only a few 1500 bda motors built and only used for Donington Gt racing due to 1500 cc class
i think that car was Brian Fishers car S2000 based as he had my fathers motor in it from the esprit

I believe Michael hanson still has the car. I know he has posted on here with relation to his Lola T70 mk3b in motorsport history. So maybe worth a search in there.

According to Mason’s Uphill Racers, John Meredith was to use in 1988 “the ex-Mike Hanson Skoda Kevlar bodied and to be fitted with the 2.7 BMW out of his Pilbeam. John Meredith had two other Skodas on the hills, one based on a T492 and the other on a BM24.

The Meredith BM24 skoda would that have been the ex Richard Brown Martin sports car that was turned into a special saloon car circa 78 by Richard Simms?
The other Skoda Lola T492 would be the 1300 bda David Auger car i believe he had the skoda built onto a new lola in 79?

Alastair Cobb was seen in 1983 with a 1298 engine (BDH?) and the chassis number Lola T492 HU89 – in 1985-6 John Meredith (and Ron Datson in 1985) drove the car – Alistair Fenwick and Phil Gleed drove it in 1987 and Phil Gleed in 1989 (chassis number noted each time). I think all these records came from observations at Gurston.

Bob Forth seen in 1980 (hill climbing) with a Lola Skoda 1.7 BDA and then in 1993 (circuit racing) with Skoda Lola T490 HU9 Rover 4.5. Could be the same car.

I might have asked this question before elsehwhere but who built Brian Fisher's car that ran in special saloons and GT's at Combe in the late 80's/early 90's?

It was beige from memory and had good sponsorship?

Drifty would you know?

1 T492 hu 89 and T490 HU9 2 different cars- who observed the plates?
2 Brian Fisher car i think was S2000 car but not a lola the 1500 bda motor was my fathers old motor- need to ask Brian Fisher the direct question on hios car as he later had an open top Coombe gt car which might have been the skoda revamped then did he not run the Exocett? ex steve from merlin motorsport shop car?
by 1990 we had moved out of Saloon GT racing

3 The lotus Europa that ?? Brady raced built by Racing Fabrications for Paul Berman ( he never drove it! ) was on a lola T492 chassis

Thanks drifty, I always thought the Fisher car was 'longer' than other specials saloon Skodas I had seen on the tracks, but maybe it was just a lower shell or something?

I've got to dig out the pic I have of it.

I wish there was a thread like this on the S 2000 series over the late 70's to late 80's!
Bit late now, but welcome back to Driftwood.

They were my observations from Gurston . The same car comment was applying to Bob Forth. I have no identification for the 1980 record, but wondered if it was the same car as the one seen in 1993 at Lydden.
