You should be like this now , with under an hour to go both GRM and Walky cars are the bottom 4 and Dale Wood has set the fastest time.
And Rullo is 15th!

Interesting day, good hit out for some, maybe not for others

What was made clear during the day is that the 8 sets of 2017 tyres used for testing, were able to be supplemented by whatever stock of 2016 tyres, new or used, the teams still had laying around...

And that the teams could choose to stay off the 2017 rubber all day if they wanted to, the unused tyres to be included in the practice sessions at Clipsal.

Did we learn anything, or just go play on a tyre economy run?

We are here to do a Tyre test, new size rims etc.
Why Would I as a team go out and set cracking times and pace?
When I , as a team owner, racer go out and see if I have to set up right for new size rims?
Run some laps , with different times in each sector / or area:
For instance ,:
Cornering,
Braking,
Drive out of corners.
Drive from pit stops,
Dives into corners
Out braking
Why would I go hell for leather to set the fastest time ?,
No I would use this to evaluate how my cars reacted and my drivers reaction.
To hell with bragging rights for Tyre test day, I would want to know how my cars and drivers handled this new set up , and what the engineers gained .
At Clipsal, we have ample time to adjust

Wheel size is the same as it has been since 2013, 18x10in.

It's the tyre construction and compounds that have changed.

But I do agree that there was some headline racing going on today. We'll know more about the pecking order for this season, post Clipsal
