Those gaps are massive. Bathurst certainly does show up deificiencies. Well done Luffy by the way, must feel good to end up at the front, even if it is practice.

I think the Luff vs Canto battle will be a good one.
Good to see both guys straight into the 12's in the first session and seperated by such a small margin. |

I think that the 100kg will be dropped for the series in the 06 calender year.
I agree Canto vs Luff will be interesting. |

Canto's just a class above, isn't he?
I hope he gets a good ride next year. |

Canto qualified on pole on his first lap!
Apparently came in for new rubber and was on a flyer (quickest 1st sector by quite a bit apparently) when the session was red flagged and eventually black flagged. |

Considering that Canto has a level one machine, a healthy budget, and talent, if he wasn't on pole most would be surprised! The standout for me in HPDC qualifying today is the Dexion BA of Tony Evangelou (11th). The budget for Evangelou and his small team is "peanuts" compared to most of the cars in front of him on the grid. Aussies love battlers, and I for one hope they kick butt at Bathurst.
P.S. They're a good mob to have chat and a beer with as well |

The time sheets have Grant Elliot in a Falcon AU, not the usual Commodore.
Is this an error or has Grant a new ride for the weekend? |

Grant Elliot is running the team's ex - DJR AU this weekend and it looks like he's adapted quickly, i wonder if the VX would have been that far up the grid? Apparently the VX is under going a rebuild and transformation into a VY for next year.

From the good people from V8Supercars.com.au:
A week in the life of Tony Evangelou Release Date: 03/10/2005 This weekend at Bathurst, Tony Evangelou has one very hectic schedule. Besides his regular duties in the Dexion Ford Falcon for the penultimate round of the HPDC V8 Supercar Series, Evangelou will make his debut in the Bathurst 1000km endurance event – the most prestigious race on the Australian motor sport calendar. Evangelou will partner regular V8 driver Anthony Tratt in the Larry Perkins-prepared Toll Racing Holden Commodore in the Super Cheap Auto 1000. “It’s a real busy week, but one that I’m absolutely looking forward to,” he said. “The challenge of driving two different cars over the weekend shouldn’t be that difficult. If I’m good enough, I’ll be able to do the job. Besides a few minor elements, including the fact that the cars have different badges on the grill, they are the same sort of beast. I’ve had plenty of laps in the Dexion Ford, and they are going to give me plenty of time in the Toll car. I’m feeling good.” Here is a brief look at Tony Evangelou’s week to come MONDAY 3rd – The first day of the week is a normal work day for Evangelou. As the Managing Director of ANT Transport, Evangelou will get to his work base at Whittlesea at 7am, where he’ll sort through some book and office work before jumping in one of his fleet of trucks to deliver containers to customers. Tony has six employees working for him. After his normal work duties, Tony will meet with Dexion Racing’s engineer Glenn Reid on Monday evening where the pair will discuss final preparations for their Falcon BA. TUESDAY – Again, Tony will head to ANT Transport in the morning (someone has to keep the country running!). He plans to give himself an early mark, where he will start loading the car and spares into the Dexion transporter at around 3pm. Evangelou will jump into the truck’s driver seat at around 7pm and start the 1000-plus kilometre trek to Bathurst. The first scheduled pit stop will take place at Albury. WEDNESDAY – While most of us will be fast asleep, Evangelou continues his drive to Bathurst, with a quick stop off at Yass for coffee and a short break. He’ll arrive at Bathurst mid-morning, where he’ll link up with every V8 Supercar transporter for the annual parade through the main street of Bathurst at 10am. Evangelou’s only other commitment for the day is the ‘BBQ with the Stars’ at King’s Parade at 4.30pm. THURSDAY – This is Evangelou’s busiest day behind the wheel. The first HPDC practice starts at 9.35am. He’ll jump straight out of the Dexion Ford and head to the Toll Racing garage, where at 11am, the first main game V8 Supercars will hit the track for a 2 hour session. Another HPDC practice session is scheduled for 2.20pm, followed by HPDC qualifying at 4.20pm. The name ‘Evangelou’ will be on the side of a V8 Supercar for three hours and a half hours on Thursday. FRIDAY – Two 30 minute V8 Supercar practice sessions will be run on Friday morning (the second being solely for co-drivers). After that, Evangelou will strap into the Dexion Ford for the first 14-lap HPDC race at 12.45pm. V8 Supercar qualifying is a 45-minute session which gets underway from 2pm. Tratt is likely to occupy most of this session, however, Evangelou is required to be with the team. SATURDAY – A longer 60 minute V8 practice session will keep the V8 boys busy in the morning, before Evangelou again does the bolt up the back of the pits to get prepared for the final HPDC race at 1.30pm. The main game Top 10 shootout kicks off at 3.40pm. Could the Toll Commodore be a part of that session? SUNDAY – Race Day. Sunday morning warm-up is early – and then, the Super Cheap Auto 1000 starts at its traditional 10am time. Come 5pm, the race will be run and won, and it will be time for a couple of brews with the boys before a solid night’s sleep. MONDAY – If all goes to plan, it would have been a massive weekend. Evangelou will jump back in his truck and take the car back to Melbourne to be prepared for the final round of the HPDC Series at Phillip Island on November 25-27. My apologoies that I said that he was head of Dexion, it is ANT transport, not Dexion. Also, for the people that have asked me that I was with Britek, I am not with Britek I just surf other forums that have the info and rumors and I do not know anyone from Britek or FPR. |

I wasn't aware that Elliot had purchased a DJR AU, any idea on the history of the car he has?
Also noticed that Steven Voight is driving a 3rd Howard Racing entry. It is listed as a BA above, but as an AU in the entry list, presumably being another ex Triple 8 BA or one of PWR04/05 from last year. |

This would be DJR#9, the first AU built by DJR in '99 for Paul Radisich. It was sold to Ross Halliday in 2002 and run by Greg Crick that year at Bathurst, Peter Gazzard ran it in the Konica series in 2003. I guess Ross Tebb now owns it, along with the ex Cat AU.....in fact, it would be the car which Elliott and Walden ran last year.

Pete60, I think you will find the ex cat car in the hands of Rod Dawson (peters motorport) and campained last year by mike olsen and steve voight.
Any one have pics of the gary deane accident at forest elbow. Sounds as if there is plenty of "incidents" so far at this corner. |

Spud1, Rod Dawson has the Briggs built second Cat AU. The Sydney Star outfit have the original WA built Cat car, which also went to Ross Halliday.

The AU that Grant Elliot is using is the ex 3M AU Falcon, owned by Rob Tebb (Sydney Star).
