Vettel's been told that a penalty is inevitable. I still think that he'll get a top 6 in the race though, he's never finished out of the top 5 here iirc.

These next few races will be a lot closer between Vettel and Ricciardo than what we've seen so far.
Also first race with the radio ban so could see a mix up of finishing positions at the end of the race. |

Great last lap to qualifying as usual. Great year for F1.
Rosbergs reaction was priceless. |

So Lewis pips Nico to pole by .0007 seconds. The Red bulls are on second row, with Ricciardo ahead of Vettel. The difference between Ricciardo's RB and Nico's Merc is .166 seconds. Good to see Alonso up there in 5th.

Having seen the press conference I think Rosberg was jesting slightly. Of course Sky have to make a big thing of it.

It looks like it could be really close between Red Bull and Mercedes tomorrow. I suspect that Singapore being a twisty track and relying on aero falls more into Red Bull hands. Another possible Danny Boy win? He certainly seemed confident in the interviews. Also, how long before Lewis has another hiccup in the race? For tomorrow's win - I'd say it will be either Rosberg or Danny Boy - outside chance of Vettel(as he seems to like the track).

It would appear Nico has a clutch/steering wheel problem.

This is going to put a crimp in Nico's WDC hopes.

Congrats to Lewis in what was a rather featureless race.

The important thing to come out of this weekend is that the right driver is back at the top of the championship, though not by the lead that it should be. We're on the right track towards injustices being righted, but Rosberg needs one more race DNF and two in qualifying (in Q1, not Q3) to really even it out, but at least things are moving in the right direction.
I was afraid Mercedes made a poor tire strategy decision prior to the safety car, since we always get one here, and sure enough the safety car came out and it looked like there's no way Lewis is winning today. Then he makes a great, long run on the super-softs and manages to pit and rejoin in a close second, later breezing by Vettel to reclaim the lead. Plenty of congratulations are in order there. |

I'm glad Vergne's penalty had no outcome on the race. I mean where else could he go? It was one of those things. I'm glad these stewards weren't around at Dijon 79 where as each driver would have got a five second penalty each lap from the amount they went off the track.

True, he had nowhere else to go but off the road. But he shouldn't have overtaken while he was off the road. Hard, as he was forced off, but that's the rules (and for good reason).

It's Tuesday evening (here) and we've had 19 posts in this thread. I guess that says it all about Singapore 2014.......

This doesn't mean they didn't watch it, it just means there was little to write about..... I think that most people are over this years F1 already. It is not that it is predictable , but that the endless hype and speculation, and twittering about meaningless non issues has put most people off..... |

Ive found that too. The F1 threads and comments on here have died off considerably.

So the 2014 season is over.....
Not because the racing is poor (it isn't, its good) but because F1 has become a parody of itself, and the endless changes, manipulation of teams etc by the erratic FOM management has driven the audience away? Saward has some interesting thoughts about the future of F1. Whatever happens between now and the beginning of next season something significant is going to have to happen if the audience is going to be won back... |
