It should hopefully be quite a close one. Its "top 10 shootout" qualifying format as well this weekend which will be a real test of one-lap pace.

Word from friends arriving to park their vans/put tents up for the weekend is that the ground of the infield is very, very, VERY wet.

Definitely a weekend for wellies. And staying on the black bit!

Its only taken about 10 years!

I am hopeful that if the YouTube qualifying stream is deemed successful then the stream could be extended to cover Saturday support races by the end of this season/beginning of '24. Very wishful thinking from me though.

iTV streamed the first qual on YouTube last year by the way.
So going off last year, they will only show this one full qual.

Can't wait to see the qualifying today. We've had a long enough wait. Hopefully will be a good start to the season and will justify going to Snetterton next month

International tv deals etc.

I see Napa have their own merchandise vehicle/stand. Haven't seen a team with one of those for years. Probably the Seat Sport or VX Racing days?

Although it's only the first practice session, Pearson also seems to be doing OK. However, it would seem as though both Cook and Ingram have had some issues as they only completed 6 and 4 laps respectively as opposed to Turkington's 21 laps, with Sutton about half a second quicker than Turks at the top of the timings.

Ash Sutton nearly half-a-second quicker than 2nd place (Turkington) in FP1. The session did have a delay in it so I would imagine it interrupted everyone's run plans but its a terrific lap time - 1:07.975. That's over 4 tenths quicker than the qualifying lap record (1:08.418).

Definitely meaningless! I would imagine though that the qualifying lap record will be beaten this afternoon if the weather conditions are ok.

Pearson and Watson do look impressive for rookies.

Ingram will rightly look at the positives - an FP1 issue is better than a breakdown tomorrow!
