Motormouth should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Alfa 147 Info...HELP!

I've just bought an Alfa 147 racing car. It was the original prototype for the 147 Cup series, apparently and was then used for Hot Laps etc by the series organisers. It has over 220bhp and differs from the Cup cars in that in has 2 seats and no sequential box. In fact it has no box at all as the original (straight cut) box gave up and was removed for repair and mislaid!! I remember it at a Mondello Park test day a couple of years ago being quicker than Alfa Ireland's two 147 Cup cars but it hasn't run since. It was capable of lapping in 60.7/60.8 on the National Circuit.

Anyway 2 things:
Anyone know where I'd get a suitable box for it (I have a standard one but doubt it would last too long)?
And what series would it be eligible for in the UK? Ideally i'd like to do a few one-off races rather than an entire championship.

The obvious series is the BRSCC Alfa Championship - it's about time somebody raced a 147 in that! See:

There's also such series as the BARC NW sports/saloons, DDMC sports/saloons & no doubt southern equivalents.

There has been a 147 in the Alfa Championship before. Agreed that would be the obvious starting place.

LMA Euro Saloons would be another option. I suspect Britcar Production S1 would be possible as well.

huh ?
My house is not as good as Pete's Escort? I suppose Pete's Escort handles better round the corners than my house but my house is more comfortable.

Do you mean why have I changed my avatar from a picture of Pete's Escort to a picture of my house? I haven't, it's been the house picture for at least a year. I think you've mistaken me for someone else.

Of course, it's not actually my house

Hi guys, thanks for the help (and the info on the house and Escort!!)
I e-mailed Michael Lindsay from the Alfa series last night and he seems very helpful.
Is there a Britcar website?

I think the straight cut boxes in these cars are made by Bacci.

Another suggestion would be to get yourself to Brands and have a word with the one or two cars running 147's in the Dutch Supercar Championship. That said one of them had an accident at the last round in Zolder so not definately sure if he will be at Brands.

we are taking said 147 to germany tomorrow for the ring 24hrs, we run a 6 speed box which is said to be good up to 220bhp so you're right on the limit.

It does run the bacci shift linkage and a Kaaz diff which works wonders.

A 147 in the ARCA championship would be nice (i'm in class F)
