What happens when a fallen rider hits a sudden lip or rise as a result of surface damage in a run off area? Obvious reasons why the burnout even off the racing surface itself is undesirable at that particular circuit.
It's also just a completely unnecessary hassle for the circuit to repair if damage exists and it can be easily avoided. |

I have to agree all the penalties dished out in a race make them frustrating to watch, plus every time a leaf lands on the track theres 20 laps behind the safety car.
Sadly its crept into all sports that are televised, don't get me started on rugby or league with their appalling video refs. Car racing they should drop the flag and race all the way to the chequered, and sort it out afterwards if anything untoward goes down. |

Interesting thread. Race management decisions being called into question is a function of the increased complexity of the rules (tyres, minimum fuel drops, time certain finishes, tyre compounds, driver racing etiquette etc)? There is a degree of artificiality about modern motor racing which is afflicting most categories (F1, NASCAR, Supercars, Indy cars etc). This is the price we pay for all these spec formulas.
Simplify the racing rules! I find racing more interesting when there are legitimate differences between cars. Often you find better and more interesting racing at a state level meeting where you have these differences. |

many of the rules come into play because thinsg happen and spectators want clarity so we get more rules No one was asking for less rules after the tassie rain out |

The top 15 or so cars in the maingame are fairly even, the rest are probably a bit further back, with the occasional exception. The parity concept is fine, but the racing relies too heavily on teams rolling the dice on a potential safety/entertainment car, and not screwing up in the pits. I think the actual specs of the cars needs refining, to produce better racing on track. More/less aero or tyres? Perhaps we should look into running a proper limited slip differential in the transaxle, to make the cars more nimble, and easier to drive on the limit? That in itself would even out the depth of talent somewhat. |

They have trained and learnt to be specialists in driving with a spool differential, over decades in many cases, what would a LSD achieve?
