gmontrack should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
NSW IPRA State Race Rd1

Ric Shaw has had a successful return to state championship racing, with a third and two wins, at that the first round of the NSW state race meeting at Eastern Creek this weekend.
The Improved Production over 2Lt field had 23 starters with Ric Shaw qualifying on pole, point one of a second in front of Nick Dunkley with Peter Rushton third , all driving RX7's.
Ric was pushed all the way in the first of three races by Nick Dunkley getting across the line by less than a car length. The second race saw Ric once again get the jump off the start but Nick had the speed down the straight and on lap 4 passed Ric around the out-side on turn one. Col Mathews pipped Ric on the line to take second.
The trophy race saw Nick get a good start and looked like having it in the bag, only to have a rear G/box mount fail on lap 5 giving Ric the lead followed by Greame Watts in an RX3 with Col Mathews coming home in third.
The under 2Lt races were dominated by Pual Zyfert, winning all three of the races. Grant Wilson was second in the main race with Elliot Hart taking out third.
There was over 230 cars entered for the first round of the NSW state championsihp, round two is at Wakefield Park on April 20/21.

Its great to see Ric and Bill back in Improved production again. All we need is Terry Lewis back and it will be like the good old days. Not a straight panel and a line up at the clerk of courses office

It was great to see my friend Marty Welsh finish in the top ten. I will be at wakefeild to help him out and see how he goes.

gmontrack - how about putting together a Race Report which can be placed in and on RaceNews - both the mailing list and the web site?

With round two being run down at Wakefied Park a couple of weekends ago , where we saw Pete Rushton win all three races in the over 2 litre cars and James Kirkwood winnig two and Pual Zyfert one , in the under 2 litre races. Nick Dunkley had a throttle cable break in race one after challenging for the lead with Rushton. The RX3 of Gavin Fazaferley was driven to second place in the first two races and just missed out in the last race with Nick Dunkley taking a well deserved second after start will back in the field.
The next round of the NSW state championship is on at Oran Park next weekend the 18/19 May.

Racetime; Sorry about the delay but I was down at Mallala with C/cup. I'll be at Oran P. next weekend so I'll try to get something on here ASAP.

LOL - keeping you on your toes and honest are we?

Email me when you have something at racenews@racetime.com.au - take a look at the other reports Mark Walker is doing and you'll see a good, balanced, state race meeting report (although Fridays was a preview...

Last weekend saw over 55 Improved Production cars take to the Oran Park G.P. track for the third round of the NSW state championship. The over 2L cars were once again dominated by rotary's, with Nick Dunkley in the On Track Motorsport RX 7 taking out the trophy race. Nick started off on pole after winning the earlier race in the day. Along side Nick was another RX 7 of Pete Rushton, both running Ric Shaw engines.
From the moment the red light went out Nick shot to the front and kept Rushton behind all the way to the chequed flag. Third home was Greame Watts in his RX 3 fellowed by Phil Armour, Des O'Loughlin and Steve Drake in a WRX.
The under 2L cars had three very close races with Pual Zyfert and Scott Fleming running nose to tail all weekend. Zyfert was the eventual trohpy race winner with Fleming pushing him all the way. Third was David Crieghton in his 1600 Dato.
The next round of the championship will be at Eastern Creek on the 23 of June

Bloomin hell! Was there some action up here in QLD on the weekend!

It started off in the first race when Adam Uebergang (previously undefeated this season) got away to a shocking start, and was involved in an incident with 2 slower cars, and smoted the wall big time entering turn one. Luckily the TAFE crew worked a miracle, and got the car back out for the next race,

Later that lap, Peter Johnstone ran wide at the infield turns, came back on but had a big lose at the final turn. luckily he didnt clean anyone up, but Rachel Smeaton got stuck on the side of the track, unable to move, while Johnstone reversed back out of the sand, parked in the middle of the track, with no forward gears. So now 3 cars were littered around the track- no red flag.

David Wood went on to win, but after he crossed the line, Troy Marinelli lost of wheel from his Escort, the wheel bounced off Johnstone's car, while Marinelli's car went up on two wheels, teetering on rolling over for about 10sec. Luckily he came back down to earth (with a thump), right way up.

On Sunday, Derek Purkiss lost it at turn 4, several cars made it through, but he was heavily collected by Paul Van Wijk. With both cars on racing line, the race continued. On the last lap, leader Stephen Thompson was slow out of turn 5, and Wood made it by for the lead. Then coming onto the last straight, Wood missed a gear. Wood, Thompson and Justin keys went across the finish line 3 wide, seperated by 0.02sec, with Thompson winning by a bees dick from Keys then Wood...

What a weekend!
