What a crap detective I am!!.....If I'd actually read the comments below the picture I copied off Facebook I would've seen this:

"Andy Booth Racing This is the ex double championship winning car which Andy last raced in the '07/'08 championship. The paint on the roof is the remnants of the old Tasman Motorsport livery. Wayne Anderson's son Tony is at the wheel and will be contesting in his first race series with this car in the V8 Challenge Cup. New war paint to come soon.."

Wow... didn't see them up there... So there musn't be a mandated position then?

I think I know what I know (is that double-dutch?)

We'll see in due course.

Given the boot, or couldn't find the required funds, or we are all just speculating and have no real idea?

"Given the boot" is a bit strong. He's a nice young fella, but I think you will find that in most cases like this, sufficient dollars were never really there. Perhaps deals were done on a handshake and someone changed their mind; or they bit off more than they could chew.

But it will come back to money every time, whatever the reason.

he was listed as an International Motorsport ST driver.. so i thought it must've been a done deal.

it will be very interesting to see how quick Jonny is in ST. my guess would be bloody quick!

Unfortunately there are lots of "done" deals in NZ motorsport that fall apart.

Yes, Reid will be quick.

Good news about Jonny, (bit of a fan).

I picked it ages ago so I'm happy something I said came true .

That is good news about Mr. Reid, i'm a fan too

And looks like the V8CC is slowly shaping up now as per Icarus_NZ post

Can anyone even see the "NZV8 championship (BNT's)" even running at the end of this year? If they do they might have 3 or 4 cars but that'll be it.

Looks to me that the fence has been fully jumped and the grass is growing mean and green on the ST side

ooh thats a bummer, he is still one of my favourite drivers to come out of Oz. Hope this doesn't knock the series around too much.

Does this mean he has picked up a drive in either V8SCA or GT3?

Although it was just a shakedown test, the drivers completed a significant number of laps, with the cars running right up until around 7pm. Lap times were quick, with 1 minute 4.3 seconds the benchmark set by the end of the day. The testing continues across the country's circuits although the first major series test will be on February 10th at Hampton Downs and will be free to the general public.
is a GT3 considered a Touring Car?

Was Scott McLaughlin's SuperCheap money conditional on Cam being the other driver?

Personally, I wouldn't have thought so. He had SC backing for his NZV8 last year.

As far as I know a Touring Car has to have 4 doors and a roof, and must comply with a fairly tight rule set that would vary from place to place (i.e. country).

Since Touring Car classes tend to be quite large they tend to fit a certain format, i.e. modified but within a fairly strict set of rules (not over the top like the old Super GT's which was pretty much unlimited really, wasn't it?)

My favourite (as I've said many times) was Owen Evans in his Porsche Le Mans - 300+ km/h down the back straight of Pukekohe! But that was definitely NOT a Touring Car...

Skylines, Sierras, M3s, XJS, Mustang, Camaro, Corolla, Supra, etc etc etc
All 2 doors with four seats, or 2+2. Just like a 911
