Where is the announcement? It's not on the A1GP website (yet).

17th May.. That's quite late no?

I thought that round would take place between Mexico and Portugal.

There was a TBA pencilled in for 29th March, but that still could be for Italy, Mugello?

Final design of the Lippo street circuit has been submitted for FIA approval so hopefully all is on target for Jakarta.

So does that mean they haven't started preparing for building the circuit? Do they even plan to have a GP?

I am not very clear on the FIA approval process, but it suggests to me that they have now decided everything in detail (FIA would want to know exact runoff areas, safety barrier placement, emergency vehicle access etc surely). I guess this should be one of the final tasks in the planning process, and I believe that work has been going on for quite a while.

It would still be nice if we had someone from Indonesia here to post pics or something, but I think it means all is well.

Tickets are now on sale for Lippo so they must be confident all will be ready in time. You've got to be a millionaire to buy one though!

So how long until Interlagos in May is announced, if they are indeed going there? I'm nervously waiting for that 10th round to be filled...

Thanks for that, seems to be 99% certain that it will happen then...

Also interesting to spot the SF calendar only has 6 races on so far, but SEAT Eurocup has only 4, and BMW Europe only 6, so I don't think they are finalised yet. Hope to see more SF events added.

All seems to be on schedule at Lippo Village (bottom half of the article):

I was about to post that one too. FIA has to review the change to turn 10 for a larger run off area. Hope it all goes well for them. I like the circuit layout.

I heard about a month ago that despite the teams being advised then the Interlagos round would be announced in the new year. Dunno why they would wait so long to announce it but that seems to be the plan.

Autosport is reporting as expected the late March TBA date has been replaced with the Interlagos round at the end of the season; the official site will presumably update shortly to reflect the news.

Good that it is finally confirmed. Such a late date will surely however affect driver availability. Lets hope we don't just get a bunch of rookies at the season finale.

Still not confirmed on A1GP.com, so as far as that's concerned, it's still not confirmed. I wonder why they are waiting ?

I also would like to know why the March 29 date is gone?

Here are my 3 workable theories:
1) March 29th is now an F1 weekend
2) Summertime starts allmost all over the world, causing lots of people to probably miss it
3) On that day only, known as Vertex day, there are dimensional eddies that cause all sinks on the southern hemispere to turn clockwise ( instead of anticlockwise), and A1 is concerned how that will affect fuel leaving the fuel cell. ()

According to Pitpass:
Quote:
The visit to Brazil was revealed when the FIA revealed the full international race calendar for 2009 on Monday, and according to sources has caused a certain amount of frustration within the A1GP organization [...] A1GP organizers and even members of the Team Brazil management are remaining tight-lipped, though official confirmation is expected in the next 48 hours

I have read elsewhere that it is 80% likely to go ahead but discussions with the Brazilian government are not concluded yet, therefore A1GP would have preferred that the news not be broken yet.
