Not sure about this one, especially the bottom section, has Tilke suffocated all other designers in their sleep? Is anyone left? |

I really wonder how this track would be situated in the city. Where would the harbour be, for example?

Looking at the size of the runoff areas, it seems quite certain that the lower part of the track, the 2nd half of the long layout so to speak, is the non-permanent part, leading through 'the city'. So there are basically two possibilities where the 'harbour' could be located: on either sides of the non-permanent paddock/exhibition grounds that are located at the bottom of the diagram.
I actually like the short circuit layout. But unfortunately, F1 is more likely to place their starting line in front of the larger of the two possible paddocks. Anyway, this design is definitely an improvement for Tilke. It's only the section from where the long version splits from the short one up to the larger pit straight that is not so nice, but probably that's down to being 'in the city' here, whichever city that actually means. |

There doesn't appear to be an awful lot in thne way of overtaking zones. T1 of the GP loop doesn't look that appealing, T2 where it joins the Short track would probably be favourite. T3 (T1 of the short circuit) doesn't appear to have a long enough run before hand from the slow T2 to give overtaking there. The rest looks very much follow the leader...but then again it's F1 we're talking about so it should be perfect!!!
I think the harbour could be the Monaco-esque, wiggle around the harbour prior to the pits. |

I like it, to be honest.
I expect some revisions as well, who remembers the early plans of Sepang and Bahrain for example? |

That's terrible! Why can't Tilke just leave Formula 1 alone! Look at it, there's no rally fast corners, it's all too tight and slow!

Boring, i wish Bernie would let someone other than Tilke have a go at designing an F1 track. How many attempts has Tilke had, i count Malaysia, Bahrain, Shanghai, Turkey. Is that right?

I think Eric Bailey (the designer of the tracks in Live For Speed) should design all future F1 tracks

Maybe somebody from Bureau Tilke reads this board
Anyway, Tilke originals are the following: -Sepang, Malaysia -Shanghai, China -Sakhir, Bahrain -Kurtkoy, Turkey And these are Tilkefikations: -Hockenheim, Germany -Mount Fuji Speedway, Japan Plus he's also reshaped the first corner and created the stadium section that comes after it on the Nürburgring Grand Prix track. That makes 5 and 1/2 Tilke tracks in next year's Formula 1 calendar. As fast as circuits come and go these days (think: A1-Ring), Sepang might be considered almost a classic after 8 years of constant presence on the calendar. Anyway, a board like this and the creations of its users are surely capable of providing some inspiration to a professional track designer, but still we're no architects here... |

As it happens, Tilke designed the A1-Ring as well. And he was doing the Imola changes, Pinto in Spain (the one with about 3 crossovers), planned changes to Silverstone and I'm pretty sure he changed the Hungaroring (correct me if I'm wrong)
Did he do Indy as well? I seem to remember hearing that he did |

Yes, he did design the A1-Ring as well. That was probably his best edit of a 'classic' track, much better than Hockenheim anyway, and most likely better than Fuji as well.
Pinto? I've never heard about that. Can you please tell me where I can find a track map or a photo of it? Google doesn't deliver when I search for the following: +pinto +"track map" Three crossovers sounds mightily intersting! Thanks. |

This is going off topic,
Pinto was originally planned on being a tri-oval superspeedway to be built in Spain. The plans then changed to a multi-cross-over design, there was a website that I had a note of, but it is now a dead link. |

Pinto's another awful-looking track, but if it takes over in Spain, it'll hopefully produce better races than Barcelona |

A1-Ring was OK on reflection.
