dave not neil should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Teams that actually pay to be in the series, and not the spongers, were priority teams when it came to car allocation. And also teams with a decent promotional value.

Hence why teams such as RSA (Teixeira's team), NZL (Highly sponsored), NED (Season opener), ITA (Ferrari), MAL (Decent sponsorship), USA (Danica Patrick driving, will appeal highly to the USA audience), were all bumped up in the queue.

Teams that are A1 funded were put to the back of the queue, eg Germany, Mexico, Canada, Portugal and all the others that will fail to make the Zandvoort grid.

I shall watch Zandvoort, because I like the circuit and the people, but it seems to me to be a bad start with the 'new' A1GP with several leading nations not being there.

If any nations are still making up their minds, I'd guess that the present economic recession will make them draw back. Couple all that with the cancellation (or was it postponement?) of Mugello and it ain't looking so good.

It seems only Pakistan, Lebanon, Monaco and Ireland testing at Snetterton yesterday?

Some teams who are just finishing their car builds are heading straight to Zandvoort of course.

Ah, A1GP. Cashed and crashed. That's how I describe this. So much hype and hoopla... and then see them in a quagmire they dug themselves in. It'll be a miracle if by the end of the year people start talking about them positively.

There is no rookie session for Zandvoort. The usual official Friday practice is moved to early Saturday morning at 9am local time as was announced early on. That session also extended to 1h50m. The rest of the weekend schedule remains the same.

From the posts there seems to be a lot of pessimism still. Will that change once we get past the chequered flag on Sunday afternoon or would we only then move towards doom and gloom predictions for Chengdu?

According to Pitpass Adam Carroll was fastest of the six runners yesterday.

I think it will be fashionable to knock A1GP for some time to come.

Diablo, I think the whole weekend programme will be changed to give more track time to competitors. Friday is a no noise day at Zandvoort, as per last year so no A1 cars.I beleive Qualifying is going to take a very different formate, just for this race meeting, and the grid selection for feature race will also be different.

Just to add to the woes, Mr Khan at 6"4' is to tall to fit into the new A1 car safelly?? I think all other A1GP problems can be solved ipto create a great championship if the management can sort the finacial side out. The cars are great and the consept is still good. The push to pass is going to be better than ever as the power increase is more noticable than last year.

Qualifying is staying the same but free practice has been extended tomorrow morning.

Khan is only 6'1" according to this week's Autosport magazine, and I'm sure when they designed the car they didn't make it too small for anyone over 6 foot.

Apologies Mak, you were right, qualifying has now been changed AND Adam Khan can't fit comfortably in the car so PAK have given their car to SUI. PAK have a month to adapt what was SUI's car to Adam's needs.

No, A1 have a month to the adapt the car to Adams needs. The fact he doesn't fit is not Team PAK's problem, nor is it something they can dive into and fix. A1 will have to re-design some components to compensate for his larger frame. A1 have very strict guidlines as to what you can, and can not do, so it will be up to them to find a solution.

Damn, the Korean car kept spinning in practice. They really need to speed things up.

Jeroen, Adam Caroll and Fabio Odini look very confident. Neel is playing catch-up.

What I meant was, perhaps they have to use a different seat or something? It could be something simple like a seat too high up in the car which is cramping him. They don't necessarily need to make radical changes.

If it was something as simple as that, do you think they would have given there car to Switzerland?! I think not

rychard has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Financial crisis to hit A1GP doubly hard.

Think about it. It is struggling for credibility and the Ferrari based cars are expensive compared to the Lola F3000 they used up till now.

Zandvoort and the loss of the opening round couldn't have been good either.

Which Asian team you talking about. I see most have very good team personel/teams running them. May be you should look closer at driver experience, talent etc..

The team that was quickest at the Donington test, won the Zandvoort Sprint, second place for Feature and currently leading the championship is Asian!

Korea not doing too badly either. Currently in 8th!
