Richard Keen?
I have to admit i have always liked Richard, a much better driver than he is given credit for in my opinion, the question is do any of you know if he has the Scorpio seat for the rest of the season, i have checked several websites and there is nothing anywhere, some of you guys are in the know, come on people, help out a fan eh,

Up and down career he has had, I hope he finishes the season with Scorpio but I read that he was only able to take each round as it comes this season due to budget. He is always blisteringly quick in pre-season testing but it hasn't materialised for him yet, even in the 05/06 winter series where he has only managed a couple of podiums, despite being graduate cup champion in his first year. Strange that he has run into budget problems, he must have been quite well financed last year to just quit UK FR after 16 races and jump straight into the World Series at Donny. In pre-season testing this year he seemed to be running with Hi-tech, what happened with that?

Whats the deal with Scorpio and the second seat then, its Richard one meeting and David Epton the next, is it just who has the money in place at the time or what, not doing either of them any favours is it, mind you Richard has looked the more impressive when he has been driving, no bias there or anything though.

Strange to alternate the drive yes, but I wouldn't say it isn't doing them any favours; i'm sure they would rather be racing in FR than twiddling their thumbs at home! Keen was good at Rockingham on his comeback, got up to second in race 2, but i'd say Epton's drive at Thruxton was equally as good, spun down to last and worked his way up to 7th giving him driver of the day. Epton is now signed up for the Porsche Cup but seems to be doing Renault this weekend.
It may be budget related with swapping seats and all, but i'm sure Scorpio want either Keen or Epton driving so they have data for Will Bratt, who is in the hunt for the title with Smith and Tappy. |

Fair enough mate, i have to be honest i dont know anything about Epton, just going by the championship positions and his qualifying for this weekend, i do hope Richard is in the car for Donnington, i am going so would be nice to be able to cheer him on, on another matter do you think Bratt is in with a realistic shout then.

I would also hope Richard is in the car for Brands Indy, he has always been pretty handy round there.

Tappy and Smith are solid but Bratt closed the points margin a fair bit in the last 6 races with 3 wins and a second. With the 3 dropped-scores they have in Formula Renault it means consistency can sometimes work against you. So with the 3 dropped scores in mind, Bratt's early season bad luck and finishing out of the top 6 a couple of times doesn't actually matter. So if he can peg them like he is now, it is actually a 3-way title fight with the dropped scores.

Well here we are then, Epton has now driven in two more races than Keen and is a full two points ahead in the drivers table, come on Scorpio do the right thing and get Richard back in the seat for Donnington.

Would be nice to see him back out. A year can change a lot of things can't it; this time last year at the Donington round he quit UK FR and made his debut in the World Series!

Yeah that was a wierd one, Eurointernational are hardly a top end team and as i recall there was not a lot of testing, didn`t really work out for him did it, come on then runshaw, where do you see him ending up, if you are thinking job centre please do not answer, , i would love to see him sneak into FPA for next season, he would be in with a good shot at the title and it would get him back on track career wise, F3 in 09 with a bit of luck.

You're right, I looked on Epton's website for some reason, not Keen's! So i guess it's more likely that Epton will be racing then.

Well there you go again, as i said, i am sure Epton tried his best and i am sure he brings some very welcome money to the team but 11th and 10th was not very impressive was it.

Not that impressive but he has had a depleted season remember with no prior testing and missing about 6 races...He doesn't bring welcome money to the team either- he goes on a race-by-race basis because he hasn't got any money! He's fairly handy on occasion (2005 FPA vice-champion). Funny though, I did notice the Scorpio team were showing pit-boards to Epton that still said 'Keen' on it!

Ok, its that time again, anyone know if he has got a drive for the weekend, shame he does not seem to have a drive for the winter championship either, i do hope he can scrape a full season of single seaters together for next year, FPA anyone?

He was testing in an FPA on tuesday at snetterton in the wet for the first time, within 5 laps of testing the car he went quicker then anyone on the day by 2-3 seconds.

Well there you go, Richard wins the first round in some style, he is a dab hand in the wet mind you but to be five seconds up the road from Bridgman and the rest of them is still a very good result, nice one Richard.
