Hows that for elevation changes?

Let's see how the boyz cope out with the new circuit, Jorge Lorenzo has already ridden the track in a "street bike" (probably an R1) and he says it;s fun...

Its seems to be just so so. World Series by Renault and probably a few other series have already run there. It has some good elevation changes, but not a good sequence of corners before the long straight

And using that massive chicane in the back stretch (which I'm assuming they will) absolutely defeats the point of even having such a stretch of tarmac there. If they were going to do that from the off, Tilke should have had a completely different design to take better advantage of the area/terrain/available land. I'm a bit hacked off that they have a very nice LONG, downhill "straight" there, but one that I fear nobody will ever get to use fully in anger.

I'm sorry for my down tone, but I'm rather fed up with chicanes at this point, especially with how much Tilke uses them. I want to see a nice, long, uninterrupted stretch there. Besides, the track has plenty of slow to medium-speed turns without that extra complex. I also don't see those four added turns helping overtaking one bit, at least for the cars, and it substantially shortens the slipstreaming zone you would otherwise have without it.

It feels a bit like the infield of Interlagos, stuck together with a long straight leading towards a hairpin replacing the Senna's S and the overtaking spot at the end of the backstretch.

It doesn't look like it's an Algarve but certainly nothing bad in these times.

That circuit looks like it could be a better one that the version with the chicane-style section. While some bits aren't ready, it would probably be a better option in terms of holding a good race than Barcelona.

WOW did anybody see the race today?

It's been the best race of the year in the opinion of many, the track was full of medium speed corners and direction changes that made motorcycle racing very intense, the long straight (950m+) squeezed 202mph from Pedrosa's Honda the race itself was full of battles for all positions, me thinks for bikes this track was a success.

Definatley a very good track for the bikes, lots of overtaking. Turn 1 is rubbish for starts. Needs widened at the very least, the Eurosport guys made a good comment about moving the grid back aswell. I'd be all for that. Massive pileups during the starts of races, only reason the MotoGP bikes all got threw was because the field is half the size of the other classes. :/

The corkscrew is impressive (although it looks half as imtimidating as Laguna's) and the final double apexed left hander is another good one. That link with the pictures really does the elevation changes justice, lots of blind crests and cambers. The track could go without the bus-stop before the backstraight, but anyone who saw the MotoGP races knows that it cn make the racing very exciting.

I think Tilke may have designed a good track, atleast for bikes.

And you owe one for this excellent race to my country, Hungary, of course: Aragon wouldn't have been in the calendar if the construction of Savoly, the new MotoGP-venue had not been ****ed up and halted (temporarily?) due to some financial bogus...
