Just found mention that the 1959 winner may be coming in 1:18 after all and at a very good price. What do we know about 'Shelby Collectibles'? Who actually makes them?

Have just updated the coming soon list with a huge number of cars which have been recently announced. A number of these I never expected to see...

Spark have announced that they are to offer a replica of the famous Dunlop bridge in 1:43 (SPA43A001). Naturally I will have to have it when it comes out!

I want them all - unfortunately space and marriage limit my collection...

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on the 1970 winning 917? The major part of my collection are 917s, but I haven't seen the 1970 model for a few years. Ideally it would be the Autoart, but anything would be good to go with the rest.

I am told that the 1959 1:18 from Shelby Collectibles and the 2008 1:18 from Norev will be on sale in the next week or so... also Minichamps have announced they are to produce the various 2009 Peugeots which is good news!

Hello and welcome to Ten Tenths. Looks like a nice collection of sports cars from a fellow Aussie. Those Exotos are something special aren't they. I have got a couple and they are head and shoulders above the rest in quality and detail.

Thanks, the exotos are great quality. The only one I wasn't 100% happy with was the Jag. Not quite as good a finish as the others.

Bang for your buck its hard to go past the Autoart 787B.

Attempting to bring this up to date. After a pretty static 2009 there are a few new ones finally coming through; largely thanks to Spark who have announce a huge raft of new releases (see below) including the 1937 winner; the 68 and 69 winning GT40s; and many of the winning cars from the 1970s.

Since my last update the 2009 Peugeot and the long-awaited 1959 Aston DBR1 have been released and acquired. The 1973 Matra is said to be available now too so I really must get that one ordered.

I would also really love to get one of these but I think that the price would be prohibitive somehow!

I'm green with envy Craig! It's great to see so many of the 'unfashionable' 70s cars being released, the next big leap is for more pre-war cars to appear. I nearly got the 59 Aston but held off as it isn't accurate enough for me, but I may be being a bit too fussy there! As for the 55 Jag, I'm really not sure that will ever see the light of day, about 2 or 3 years in the pipeline now. Strange as I have the prototype D type and the XKSS from Autoart so it really shouldn't have been a big step to make the Le Mans car; the chassis and engine would be pretty much the same, just the bodywork.

Does anyone know how these companies plan their models, it's a miracle some of them manage to be viable businesses!

Hello Craig,

Great thread, wonderful collection. This has been extremely helpful in assembling our LeMans collection. Can you tell me more about the display case? It is stunning.

Regards,

That was a terrible photo but my camera is broken atm so I can't put a better one up! It was simply a Billy bookcase from Ikea fitted with glass doors and shelves. Works pretty well, I think, and costs about fifty quid so cost-effective too!

Just got back from Le Mans last night. Whilst I was there I picked up the 1979 and 1980 winners which was a nice surprise as I had no idea the 1979 winner was planned. I also saw the Dauer Porsche and the Matras which I need but my budget wouldn't stretch to those too unfortunately!

Alfa Fan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get some "Rothmans" decals for the Minichamps 1:18 Porsche 956 1982 winner? I've seen a set on ebay, but they were ridiculously expensive from Australia!

I'm afraid they are expensive! At least the quality decals from Japan are. I would recommend FE-0011 from F'Artefice in Japan. These are excellent quality, super thick decals with proper gold finish in the Rothmans crest.

Before I got hold of a set from FA though I bought some decals from Tallyho-shop in Germany. These are OK quality laserprint style decals which looked quite nice applied with microsol and microset - not as good as FA though.

I have to apologise as this isn't a winner, but does anyone know what the deal is with Spark's 1/18 935 Moby Dick?

Did the '78 race version get released already (last year?)
http://www.diecast.org/diecast98/htm.../reviewpix.htm

It's on the cover of the most recent Spark catalogue, but not actually listed inside, nor on their website. They just have the test car.

Am I missing something?
