anthony81901 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
That GRM built 2 new cars from the ground up rather than the quicker option of reskinning the existing cars, would suggest that they are off lock, stock and barrel.

That actually may have come down to a financial question. I wonder what the agreed buy-back was and if this is actually going to happen.

Two of the cars date from the beginning of 2014, the other from 2015 so they were getting a bit long in the tooth anyway. Would imagine they are fairly depreciated, but even if the agreed value is $100k a pop, then that's $300k for what would otherwise be parked out the back under a cover.

3.5 Volvos were built.

Yeah I'm not mad as to he fact that Volvo left but the way in which they left Garry was so unfair with them just springing it on them they should've given him more notice so he could put a better package together or just let him run the Volvos for this year and then take them at the end of 2017

Volvo gave notice in early May 2016. How much more do you think was required?? Garry chose not to accept that and fight a pointless battle he was always going to lose.

are personal attacks really necessary?

I'ts not relevant to that discussion from a while back. Still isnt relevant

However you want to pick the eyes out of a narrow part of a broader discussion. They finished 6th of 11 two cars teams in the championship. That is perfectly placed as the middle. 5in front, 5 behind. The 5 teams in front all had more wins and podiums than GRM in 2013. The team below them also wins and podiums, similar to GRM but not quite as many, thus they were not as high in the championship

That is the perfect description of mid pack.

Feel free to tell me how it is relevant though, But dont be a bully as you do it

The good thing about GRM and Garry though is when they shakedown the new commodore in a few weeks. Garry will listen to people who think they should do things differnt and get in there and fix things himself. He wont bully people who disagree with him, threaten them with violence or send his minions off to do his dirty work behind the scenes

Doesn't mean it can't go into the Bathurst museum though

There is already a production car Volvo in that museum dressed in the panels of one of their Bathurst competitors

Ok I'll spell it out again for you. A very young rookie driver and a foreign driver managed to win races and finish midpack. With 2 experienced drivers it's safe to say results would have been better.

As for being a bully, pretty rich coming from the person who has almost single handily destroyed this forum.

I'm sorry but can we keep insults and personal attacks out of
All debates please? We don't want to end up like the Speedcafe comment section
And the foreign driver Robert dahlgren got aboslutly belted in 2014 he struggled to even make the top 20

They both did alright that year. Had Alex been allowed to stay and not pushed out by RD being planted in the team, the first year results would be totally different. That year the way SM and AP bounced off each other, reminded me of the Bright/Winterbottom years at FPV, where the 2 pushed each other.

If you also remember, just before GT left GRM the first time, he was always hovering around the front of the pack, some tracks better than others. And back then the engineering team was very different.

Looking forward to seeing GT back at GRM and seeing what he can do in a car that's hopefully far better than what he has had.

Burgess will have some explaining to do of GT is on the pace - which I suspect he will be! Is there a team in the pit road with more to prove?

Anybody with eyes can see the difference after Tander got a new car. Burgess toeing the company line too long.

If GT hadn't have made a goose of himself on the Gold Coast, he could've really put that point across.

There is some school of thought on the CotF chassis, that if it isn't 100% straight, it can be a bit of a dog. One-lap pace in quali becomes more difficult to extract, compared to a longer run in a race, where a quirk and be masked to an extent by driving around it.

Horsepower is one thing, but from the comments during broadcasts, they were struggling with drive off corners and balance...

Burgess will have some explaining to do if Garry is paying for one thing and not getting it... But that relationship has been good in the past, so I don't foresee any issues, unless they're hung up on GT for some reason...

S60's Sold To Volvo & Cyan Intact

An elegant solution to an inelegant problem... the romantic (and financial logician) in Mr Rogers assures that the cars remain intact, whole & complete..

Wonder which chassis GRM are keeping as a spare? It may be the one to be used for Mr Golding.. once it is de-Volvoised...

Reading the comments, GoGRM seems like a very loyal Volvo fan, and tried really hard to purchase one of the S60 race cars. A shame that it was declined.

But then, thinking out loud, when everything calms down a bit, why not just get GRM to build a brand new one as they'll have all the drawings.

I am a real fan of that level of enthusiast

Paragraph C1.2 of the 2017 Supercars Operations Manual confirms that the Volvo S60 and Mercedes-Benz E63 remain eligible.

Was reported GRM's legal action was partly instigated because Volvo wouldn't allow GRM to continue to use the S60 panels, but the operations manual suggests this may have been a moot point.

Assuming the manual is correct, although not beyond the realms of possibility that its inclusion is an oversight, then GRM could have continued with S60s, albeit not the particular chassis it had been using and without the Yamaha engines.

They're homologated, yes.

Would they have permission from Volvo to use them? Probably not.

Minor things like this happen in all forms of sports broadcast. Nothing to get wound up about.
