Sandown 500 Pole Position Taken By....
Believe it or not - Sam Newman!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not at the track, but judging by the times (he was 6 (yes SIX) seconds quicker than anyone else, it would appear that he got a dry run and everyone else was on a wet or damp track and, considering he had provisionally qualified 10th, he got first run at the track. This is one big argument AGAINST top ten run offs..... |

What ah, errrmm, Spanker! Are you sure they didn't resurect the old BRute draw for the 500 and just slap some times down next to them? |

The reason for some cars only having the one driver is the team driving the timing system not being able to handle cars with multiple drivers properly (they have been late with maje sessions today, are issuing them to conform to CAMS timing guidelines and have got most of their lap records wrong (they have been truncating the last two digits off lap records....)

Not permitted under Australian NCR's - the scheduled distance is longer than 3 hours therefore 2 or more drivers required.

Sam is just showing his true talent!
As regular posters on this board will remember I have been predicting great things for Sam Newman. His talent will take him a long way............... A long way into the sandpit at the first corner is my guess! |

From what i saw on Toyota World Sports Sam was the first car out and after his run it started to p!ss down, yet Richards was only 6 seconds slower.
Who wants a bet to where Sam will be by turn 1? I think it will be a standing start, it was last year even though NC was running rolling starts. What about Peter Floyds stack. |

Roll on 10am on Soccer Bloody Soccer! I can't ever remember them devoting this much time to the 500 when they had the V8 version... sure, you probably pay for the privledge, but showing cars would probably tick off those who normally watch the Spanish under 15 C Grade of a Sunday afternoon...

I'm beginning to wonder if the SBS bill has been paid as well - 'We apologise for this interruption - service will be restored as soon as possible' |

Sam was first out and set his time. Actually I thought the top 10 shoortout was done by his co driver, Scott Shearman, judging by helmets.... Next out was the Full/King Mitsi. He got it ALLLLL wrong coming out of turn one, rotated it, stalled, and got going. Half way around his lap, the rain started and hence, Sammy's car on pole.
