They did try to qualify at LM in 1998 with this car, but is was outclassed. |

"If you have to ask, you can't afford it...."
I keep buying Lotto tickets so I will be in a position to 'not have to ask' the price, just make a call and tell them to wrap it up. For some reason I am not winning the Lotto..... |

I'm buying them, too, skycafe.....
I'm just wondering if this one could slide in the back door on my "LMP on a Shoestring" program thread????? The most expensive chassis I've got in that thread is $300,000 for a roller chassis only....but they have been bought...that was the ORECA Dallaras.... |

Actually, with someone digging up the Lotus Elise again, I'm wondering if the Gunnar G99 (whatever that was called-the GT1 looking clone used in Grand Am) couldn't be dusted off, an up to spec turbo engine installed, and shazzam, you are off and running. Or, what about a SARD Toyota MR2?

I'm not sure if Grand Am allowed various aero specs like rear diffusers and other items on their cars....
Thus, I don't kno how many changes would be involved.... But it would be worth looking into... |

No, Grand Am wouldn't have allowed the rear diffusers, however, a bit of carbon fibre, some epoxy, couple of hours on Mulsannes'Corner taking notes, and voila!
The SARD MR2 would have contemporary aero I would think, so only a polish and a tune up..... |

It also would depend on whether there is a "forward-mounted" gearbox on the Gunnar G99, and whether or not the powerplant that is in it could accommodate one...but otherwise, creating a rear diffuser itself would not be such an issue...

You guys may enjoy this. My last serious laps in this beauty were at Spa, in the wet.
... life has been fairly pedestrian since then. |

I always enjoyed seeing the G-Force cars in British GT. I remember them running the 935s when the GT series first started. They also had a GT1 spec 911 GT2 EVO if I remember correctly.

You're not wrong Tim.
I had to get by the Lotus (outside) and the Marcos (inside) after La Source and before Eau Rouge - to stand any chance of catching Steve's McLaren in the last lap or two - AND remember to breath. Actually, in the second pic, at Brands JG had stuck his nose up against something too slow going into Druids. Hence the rearranged ... Last edited by gfm; 11 Feb 2004 at 20:53. |
