Maybe a little of topic, but was at Canberra on the weekend helping a friend who races a Nc XU1. It was a great weekend of racing in the Historic Touring Cars and supperbly organised by the AHTCA and NSW Appebdix J Association. I reckon im gonna have to get back into it, i used to race a Mini Cooper S a few years ago. Can someone tell me how to post a pic of it here???

G'day Vienta, welcome to the forum. I remember that car, but I can't remember the driver's name. Did you ever race in Queensland?

Cheers David,
I only raced it in NSW and Vic, and i dont think the previous owner raced it outside of NSW. Maisie, ok specs here we go 1961 MK1 850 shell (lighter than Cooper S shell). MK1 Cooper 'S' Engine bored to 1293cc, producing about 80bhp at the front wheels. Straight cut MK1 'S' gearbox. Ported and polished Cooper S head. 45mm DCOE Side draught Webber on long manifold. Adjustable spax shocks. Adjustable front caster and camber. Adjustable rear camber. Standard Cooper S brakes with race pads(front) and Minifin drums(rear). 6 point roll cage. Yokohama AO32 Tyres. Ran on BP100. And a whole lot of fun to drive!! |

I am looking for info here on CAMS current roll cage rules. Do they have to be welded cages or can you still get the bolt in cages from Bond?

They have to be steel cages now ,unless th ecar was logged with an alloy cage. I am not sure if they have to be welded though or still the bolt up kit type. A mate got a cage for his rally car from bonds,it was a weld up type but they sell it in kit form already to be welded in.

Now the front calipers have been overhauled and the front suspension is all back together (Except for some mods to fit the shocks). It is now time to play with the front wheel alignment. The rear suspension will be done next week and then get on to the roll cage. Other than that some minor cosmetic work and we are just about ready. If only I had a lot more money

It's good to see so many doctors willing to try non-surgical remedies nowadays, there was a time when they just wanted to cut everybody open for anything.
I hope it all heals up for you. It won't be much fun working on a car with you're foot in plaster though. I'm still waiting for pics. (Of the car, not the plaster). |

Wow, very nice, looks nearly ready to go. Are you planning to win races or a Concours?
