Motor Sport magazine

The current (Feb 2016) issue of Motor Sport has lots of sports car interest. WEC review, Karl Wendlinger interview, Porsche 935 article. Even a Pescarolo and a group C Aston AMR one for sale.

Currently sitting on the dining room table waiting to be read - contents looks very promising doesn't it?

Interesting how Motor Sport have been increasing their sportscar coverage over the last year or so (indeed having reached out and asked if they should), which make a change from the approach taken by a couple of the other bits of motoring media.

MS keep saying that the 'WEC is thriving while F1 founders.' This always bothers me because the WEC is hardly thriving - 3 worthwhile LMP1 entries, 2 of them scaling back for Le Mans, Audi would have sodded off the F1 if the hadn't been caught diddling emissions. The grid is boosted by P2's and GTs, much as F1 would if you allowed in GP2 and 3 cars. That wouldn't suddenly make F1 thrive.

I feel MS mag has an agenda of sorts - even if it's as simple as saying something often enough in the hope it will come through.

It's multi class racing. The grid isn't boosted by P2s and GTs, it consists of P1, P2 and GTs. All of which add to the show (obviously, not for everyone). I found the P1-centrism of the latest season WEC broadcasts quite annoying, actually. They reported as if the field was boosted by P2s and GTs indeed, not as if it consisted of them. subjective 80-90% coverage to P1. Annoying. But I digress..

Of course it's complicated...

Mainstream media sees one faction (LMP1)
General public sees two factions (LMP1 + 'GT')
Reality sees three factions (LMP1 + LMP2 + LMGTE)
Presented series overview see four factions (LMP1 + LMP2 + LMGTE-PRO + LMGTE-AM)
And actual sporting regulations see five factions:

1.1.1
The following classifications will be established:
A/ General Classification
(all categories combined)

Categories:
LM P1 (and 1 sub category Private Teams LM P1 established for podium and FIA World Endurance Championship point allocation purposes)
LM P2
LM GTE Pro
LM GTE Am

? Doesn't sodded off means something like "get out"? Audi is not in F1, and never planned to get into it, as Ulrich said.

WEC have only grew since it's birth while, in the same time, F1 have only been sinking year after year since, at least, 2011.(tv viewing figures, fan's interest and etc)

Isn't WEC losing a fan next year? What with the reduction of energy quota.
