Dubai 24 hours 2009

First international race meeting of the year with the Dubai 24 hours running this weekend. Full info at: www.24hdubai.com

Johnny Herbet running in the 350Z team and a few other interesting entries. I'm planning to attend for the start (subject to rain / fog etc)

Mal Rose has entered his ex V8 Supercar again and is running in SP2. I'll be interested to see how the big Commodore goes. Nice to see Johnny Herbert in the race. I love the variety of the cars running, amongst the cars entered there's a Marcos Mantis, a Volvo S60R, an Audi R8 and even a Lotus 2-Eleven.

I'm interested in seeing how the team of drivers who won a shot to drive in this event through Gran Turismo 5 Prologue do. It appears they're driving with Johnny Herbert too.

i guess so, i've asked chrizzzie at p2p forums to make it few days ago and he said to me, he could do it only few parts of race, nothing about a full coverage from motors.tv

so we have to expect...

Not the best start for Autorlando, seems to have lost 13 laps or so in the first 7 hours! Early days yet, of course but a strong run for Land as a team presently.

Where do the drivers of the Lukas Porsche 997 Cup car normally compete? I don't recognize any of the names but the car has been consistently up there with much better-known entries.

Never heard of them either, but from the entrylist I see that they are a Polish team. I've recently heard about a Polish GT championship, but I never found any information about it. The only thing I know about the series is that Edil Cris may campaign a car there next year...

Went yesterday, for the start. Very friendly event and some get cars, just a shame about the total lack of fans (and it was free to get in!). Is the Middle East ready for motorsport???

It's almost like this is the race that never happened. Apart from this thread and some dodgy photos of sleeping Race Control officials on Facebook, I've found nothing about it.

Yes, the official site gives some basic stories and all the results, but no drivers' names, so who was driving what remains a mystery.

I have posted several pieces on www.speedhunters.com and there are few more in the pipeline now that I am back in the UK.

As to folks complaining about the noise...........amazing, they buy a property out in the middle of the desert at Motor City that has a race track in the middle..........then they wonder about the noise..........how stupid can you be?
