GT1 and GT3 how many cars
There appears to be quite a bit of interest in Europe for these categories (not much interest here in Oz) and I was was wondering how many GT1 and GT3 cars have been built/are racing?
Aston have said that they built 26 DBR9 chassis for GT3, but what about the other manufacturers? |

Maserati MC12 GT1- 5, possibly 6, rumour has it the 6th car was converted from a road chassis (?).
Ferrari built well in excess of 40 F430 GT/GTC/GTE plus the GT3 cars that were built by Kessel (another 40+). Aston DBR9 GT1-from what I know there was only around a dozen built. Nice to see another Aussie Sportscar Racing fan on here, you could fit us all into a phonebooth (if you could find one ). |

If you count all the Porsche GT3 Cup, Cup S and GT3R's, there has to be at least a few hundred out built.

Then, of course 8 Corvette C6R...
Around 40-ish Dodge Viper GTS-R (GT1) And I seem to remember 8 Prodrive Ferrari 550s. |

The more pertinent question is - How many GT1 cars are there in a currently raceable spec?
That figure is MUCH smaller For instance - 4 Ford GTs, 5 Lamborghinis (4 FIA GT1 cars plus the JLOC car), 4 Nissans, currently rather fewer than 4 Corvettes!, currently 4 Astons (with others convertable) and 4 MC12s (ditto) plus two Saleens (Larbre and Atlas EFX). As for GT3 - That numbers way into three figures, particularly when you take account of the number of different marques and models which have been homologated - How many of them are currently racing and/ or competitive though is an altogether different question! |

In addition to the four current Ford GT1s, Marc VDS still owns the original development car used in the 2009 FIA GT championship. But it's not fully up to current spec.
Out of interest, could someone tell me the current whereabouts of all the remaining Saleen chassis? I have a rough picture but I'd like to be fully informed. Last edited by Deleted; 19 Apr 2011 at 13:26. |

Yep! Maybe I miscounted but I make 39 F430 GTs and 22 F430 GTCs with known chassis numbers in that list. I would assume many of the former were upgraded to GTC spec during their careers. Something around 60 chassis makes sense to me, surely a handful are missing from that list but 100+ seems to be far too many!

Looking at this insane number of F430 GTs, I wonder how many 458 GT2s will be built. Will it be the same, gigantic legion???

Probably not... with more and more series moving to GT3 the market should be a fair bit smaller today then when the 430 race car hit the tracks first...

There's already a bunch of the GT3 Ferrari 458s in the Ferrari Challenge which just started in Italy, at Monza. Over 10.

Same story with Nissan. Apparently SP were using the very first GT-R ever built for testing & PR-purposes last week @ Qatar - probably because their own cars didn't feel well after the crashfests of Zolder. And unlike the Ford, I believe it's pretty much up to spec.
