We are not watching genuine motor racing anymore.
We are being required to allocate an hour of our time in a given period where Channel 7 can run a series of planned and guaranteed advertisements and other revenue raising activities. This period is interspersed with a block of talk-fest (including dribble), with accompanying vision that happens to be a group of "race" cars either circulating around a track, in the pits having fuel added or if the subject of the vision is screwing up the revenue, slow the 'race' down by introducing a safety car. It needs to be said now that all V8 Supercars is at the present is glitz and glam to secure the Owner's income base! Mike |

I think it is a shame that most Motorsport has gone this way, and the racing cannot generate the massive revenue required to support itself anymore (or is that just a perception?) based on its own merits. Rather it has to be turned into a circus to try to drag more punters along/viewers on TV. I am a "weekend warrior" and race my old BMW at historic race meetings, we organise TV coverage for ourselves and other classes, and it has to be said that there is some very exciting racing. None of it contrived either! BD |
