A man who will be sadly missed,

Many drivers would not be with us now had he not been around.

May his legacy live on.

For anyone who saw the recent BBC 3 programme "Grand Prix - The Killer Years" will make you remember how much the safety aspect of F1 has come on in the last 50 years....

Sid was instrumental in the later year in making this happen.

RIP

Indeed. His contribution to motorsport is greater than that of many others, drivers included.

A true gent who saved the life of many, either directly or indirectly through his work to change motorsport.

RIP Prof.

Now and again, the journey through life produces a very special person - Sid Watkins was one such person. A truly iconic and decent man.

I am truly sad today.

RIP Sid Watkins and thankyou

He gave so much to the medical world in general and to motorsport in particular. He was a truly inspirational and exceptional man.

A sad time for all but above all my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

RIP

I had the pleasure in meeting him at the British GP the year before he ceased being the F1 doctor. A true gent who has undoubtably contributed to the saving of many a drivers life through his research into motorsport safety. R.I.P. Sid.

I got into marshalling through Derek Ongaro, who worked closely with Sid on many safety aspects that didn't just affect GP circuits. Unfortunately, I only ever met Sid at Derek's funeral (1997), so my tribute has to be that everything he did then, which continues and develops now, improves safety not just for the drivers but also for the marshals and, yes, the spectators.

RIP the Prof. Have a Cigar on me and say "hello" to my uncle Derek.

Sid's passing reminds us of how many drivers are still on this planet because of the work he did.

Thanks Prof.

Now go find Ayrton's fishing spot.

Not only drivers. Frank Williams is probably still around because of Sid, along with all the general public that came under his hands in Hospital.

It's very rare that someone has universal respect in F1. It's such a bit*hy place but Sid rose above all that and thankfully we are all left with his legacy.

RIP Professor Sid Watkins and thank you for everything.
