So, is LMP1 non-hybrid actually pretty cheap? Just buy a Dallara LMP2 chassis and drop a big Chevy V8 in the back? Presumably SMP will be doing something like this for 2018.

I well remember that phrase used on Radio Le Mans in 1989 about Johnny Dumfries, 'Last year's winner, this year's mechanic....' when he shunted his Toyota and tried to get it going again. Having said that, someone will surely snap Romain up......

Not a real surprise since the 4 Pro drivers were already announced previously but that means Heidfeld, and all 3 LMP1 privateer champions (Tuscher/Kraihamer/Imperatori) are out.

None of them are French so probably Endurance-Info or other French magazines won't cry foul like they did when Dumas (as well as Lieb) was dropped from the Porsche squad.

United Autosport have confirmed they will take up their LMP2 auto invite with a Ligier, as well as a season in ELMS. Hope Brundle gets that the third seat.

Seeing as the entry list isn't too far away, any thoughts on whether the 60-car mark will be hit this year?

I think there will be 60 cars, but I've heard others, including some drivers that are trying to find a drive for various campaigns, saying that it's unlikely there'll be 60 entrants.

Well we will see in just over 2 weeks, but i think there will need to be a fair few extra gt's to fill the grid up and ensure a replacement for drop outs

Lots of P2 announcements, experience from previous years has shown teams usually only announce their LM entry requests after entry confirmation from the ACO. So expect all these cars to be in.
